You are appalled….appalled to see that Mrs. Clinton wore a headscarf.  And, were you appalled when Laura Bush wore one, or Carla Bruni, or Nancy Pelosi?

Far more important to study the Statecraft behind the action..

Liz Peek: Grandiosity, Not Common Sense, Drives Health-Care Bill

I am sending this to you again, Belinda, because the link didn’t insert correctly the first time.  I don’t think wow is the place to be reading reliable financial advice and news.

But then,  I just don’t post much anymore.

Liz Peek: Grandiosity, Not Common Sense, Drives Health-Care Bill

Too bad Mr. Peek couldn’t save his own company…http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/01/cit-bankruptcy-filed-us-w_n_341567.html
This is not the place to read reliable financial news, Belinda.

Liz Peek: Grandiosity, Not Common Sense, Drives Health-Care Bill

Liz, you live in a bubble.  Well off New Yorker.  It’s obvious you have no clue what the folks in Appalachia,  widows on very fixed incomes like me, the elderly, people like my son-in-law who is a bad diabetic, the "regular" people out here in the hinterlands, people with very ill children, people who have lost their jobs and have no health insurance, you have no idea what it’s like to live like us.

Brittle Obama Thrashes Wall Street: All Form, No Substance, by Liz Peek

Before you go blaming everything on President Obama for our situation in Afghanistan, you would do well to get some background material on Afghanistan.  We are in this situation because of the Bush Administration’s neglect there for 7 or 8 years.

Richard Holbrooke’s conversation with Charlie Rose is a great way to learn about what is going on there now..

From the Hitler Diaries to Balloon Boy, what are the greatest hoaxes you remember?

No, Frank…..it was Cheney’s reasons for attacking and occupying Iraq…

Are you for or against allowing consumers to buy health-care insurance across state lines? (Why or why not?)

No, I am not for creating even more bureauocracy than we already have in order for the insurance companies to rake in more money than they are already doing.

Most people do not know that charges are set by regions.  What is charged for a service in Paintsville, Ky is not the same as for Hartford, Ct. For instance, Kentucky has several regions of price points as set by Medicare.  So,  if this is going to happen,  be prepared for the MD having to hire more people in his insurance dept. which only increases his already very high overhead costs.

The Most Powerful Person in the Health-Care Debate, by Judy Bachrach

Most people think that the MD decides what to charge for his services.  Wrong~~it’s the insurance companies and Medicare that tell the MD what he will charge.  Also,  the MD still has his overhead costs…rent, utilities, payroll, and speaking of payroll, the MDs had to hire more people just to deal with the insurance paperwork.  Which is why, when I came out of retirement, I decided never to work in a doctor’s office again…

Summing the Summits: More Splendid Speeches, by Liz Peek

Hey, Dona, how are you?  Always great to hear from you.

One of the best sites to read about the ravages of global warming is the National Geographic website.  It explains it in ways we lay people can understand.  As I say,  the same people who denied the dangers of smoking are the same people who deny the existence of global warming now.  Here in Central Kentucky, tobacco was the back bone of the agricultural community for decades; now farmers are moving into food crops, soy beans and wine grapes.

Stay well….

Summing the Summits: More Splendid Speeches, by Liz Peek

The Global Warming debate by people such as yourself that deny its existence bring to mind the people who denied the ravages of tobacco and smoking 20 yrs. ago.

First came Katie Couric, and now we have Diane Sawyer. Is gender bias in television journalism a thing of the past?

There were newswomen in the past.  Do you remember NBC’s Nancy Dickerson?  She was way before her time.  And darned good too!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Dickerson  It’s hard to believe that had she lived, she would be 82 yrs. old now…

Among women you know on Medicare, has the program worked well/been successful?

Medicare has always worked well for me and my friends and family on it.  And, also, kudos to the people that help you sign up.  It was quick and easy…

Remembering Walter Cronkite

Have you no shame?  Using Patricia Kennedy Lawford’s picture as your avatar?  She died in 2006, you know.  Or, is it that you want to be a Kennedy?

Fortunately, Walter Cronkite was the most beloved person in media history who enriched a generation with his integrity and wise reporting.
