Women in Uniform in Iraq, Afghanistan, Prove They're Assets in Combat Zones

My only question is this:  Who takes care of the children if they are killed?  What about their children without a mom?  What happens if they become pregnant?  I wonder about the children.

Hey, Joan.  Tulip Poplar trees, I believe you are talking about them?  Before we were married, my late husband had one in his yard that was loaded down with the beautiful flowers, and I used to take one and float it in a crystal bowl.  Tulip poplars grow very well through pretty much everywhere.  Dad raised a lovely one here in Lexington ky. that lasted for decades, but the person who owns the house I grew up in and where the tree was, had to take it out about 5 years ago because it started splitting.  They do have a tendancy to split after a while, but I agree with you, a happy healthy one is just lovely.

CJay, my nephew reminded me of a very reliable, and organic company.  Gardens Alive!, and I looked at their website last night.  It is very good; check it out.

Maggie ( and everybody else), never use mothballs!  They are highly toxic, not only to humans, but also to animals.  They should never be used in the garden because they aren’t natural.  Besides, they smell so bad.

Baby Boomers Are Binge Drinkers, Too

Hello up there—binge drinkers have been around as long as alcohol.  Remember the Romans?  I sure remember hearing wild stories about my parents and remember some of their parties.  I also remember times back in high school of some of the kids unlocking daddy’s liquor cabinet.  This is nothing new, just like everything else.

wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?

Thank you, DeB for posting the Krugman piece.

I think the news that is most important to me is the news that is most important to our nation….healthcare, of course, and then the long range effects of global warming and our environment.

And, I worry also about the emotional climate of our nation and our seemingly inability to work with each other.  We seem to forget that this country was not designed to be a democracy.  The Constitution was written by James Madison as a Republic, to be governed by the Rule Of Law.  So,  I worry about the rancor.

And, the current news as of this moment that I am also watching is the tropical storm Claudette and Bill that is a hurricane out in the Atlantic.

AARP's Health-Care Stance Stirs Controversy Among Members; Obama to Set Record Straight at NH Town Hall Meeting

Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it…  I will be reading the complete bill this week.  It’s not rocket science to read one of these.

As Many Women Struggle to Afford Health Care, Reform Bills Face Opposition in Congress

Mel,  here is a copy of HB3200.  It’s long—over 1000 pages, but if it’s posted around the site, at least people will have a chance to know what they are talking about.  I wish the masthead would post this for all of us to see.

I am dropping this link in random places since this is the only thread pertaining directly to the bill.  A shame that the masthead won’t post it for all to see.
