Hey, Joan. Tulip Poplar trees, I believe you are talking about them? Before we were married, my late husband had one in his yard that was loaded down with the beautiful flowers, and I used to take one and float it in a crystal bowl. Tulip poplars grow very well through pretty much everywhere. Dad raised a lovely one here in Lexington ky. that lasted for decades, but the person who owns the house I grew up in and where the tree was, had to take it out about 5 years ago because it started splitting. They do have a tendancy to split after a while, but I agree with you, a happy healthy one is just lovely.

Maggie ( and everybody else), never use mothballs! They are highly toxic, not only to humans, but also to animals. They should never be used in the garden because they aren’t natural. Besides, they smell so bad.

wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?
Thank you, DeB for posting the Krugman piece.
I think the news that is most important to me is the news that is most important to our nation….healthcare, of course, and then the long range effects of global warming and our environment.
And, I worry also about the emotional climate of our nation and our seemingly inability to work with each other. We seem to forget that this country was not designed to be a democracy. The Constitution was written by James Madison as a Republic, to be governed by the Rule Of Law. So, I worry about the rancor.
And, the current news as of this moment that I am also watching is the tropical storm Claudette and Bill that is a hurricane out in the Atlantic.

Mel, here is a copy of HB3200. It’s long—over 1000 pages, but if it’s posted around the site, at least people will have a chance to know what they are talking about. I wish the masthead would post this for all of us to see.

I am dropping this link in random places since this is the only thread pertaining directly to the bill. A shame that the masthead won’t post it for all to see.
