Report: John Edwards to Admit He's Father of Ex-Mistress Rielle Hunter's Baby

Why does this not surprise me?  "Bombshell" news?  I think not.

AARP's Health-Care Stance Stirs Controversy Among Members; Obama to Set Record Straight at NH Town Hall Meeting

Star,  I have the overview in my hand as I type, and they are just the regular bills going through the various committees.  Nothing unusual with them.

I want to publicly thank the Nat’l Home Builders Association, of which I’m a member, for emailing this in PDF form to its members.  I only wish I had the skills to put the PDF here, but I don’t know how.

SJ, the Republicans always are united in one thing.  Taxes.   YOu all want all the services, but god forbid you have to pay for it.  This whole concept of medical care could have worked if your president hadn’t been responsible for running up the biggest deficit in history;  the day he walked into the Oval Office we had a nice nest egg of surplus waiting for him.  It seems to me that the GOP wants to make sure that the wealthiest citizens get the most and pay the least, and keep it that way forever.  So, the GOP screams at the Dems with the mantra, "Tax and Spend!"  and for years they have been saying "Borrow and Spend."

At least Obama is brilliant at becoming president; Reagan just pretended a lot.

D, they’ve been using the internet for years now, with CTScans, MRI’s and labwork.  So what is your point?  The internet plays a huge part in the doctor’s role now, and has for several years.  I was in my doctors office last year when he got my mammogram over it and was able to see the radiologist’s impression immediately.  That is just the way it is now, no big deal.  If something is going to show up in the lab, scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, then they will get you in.  I also notice that virtually all my friends that have something really wrong are called into the office for a person to person instead of a phone call.

Should Cash for Clunkers be given for foreign cars? Why or why not?

Belinda, here in Kentucky, we have tens of thousands of people working for not only Toyota, Ford, GM(Corvette), but all the manufacturing companies that are connected to the industry.  These companies are finally getting to the point where they can rev up their production and get more people working.  That was the purpose of the Clunker Program in the first place.  To get more people back to work.

Should Cash for Clunkers be given for foreign cars? Why or why not?

Toyota is made in the next county over from mine—Georgetown, Ky.  There are thousands of people employed in my state, which is the 3rd largest producer of cars in the country.  Aren’t hondas manufactured over here somewhere, as well as other "foreign" cars?

Billie Jean King, Sandra Day O'Connor Among Obama's Medal of Freedom Recipients (Video)

Billie Jean King looks terrific! With her neat short haircut, she looks better than I’ve ever seen her.  I am so glad to see these people feted, as well as the wonderful Chief and Steven Hawkings.

How many nights each week do you currently cook at home?

Until Julia Child came along, most of the great chefs were men.  That’s because it’s labor intensive and in the old days, it took strong muscles.  It still is a male dominated profession…

I love to slice them, drizzle with good quality olive oil and a fine Balsamic, sprinkle with fresh basil and toss with Mozzarella.  Chill and it’s heavenly…

Yes, EKA, that’s the lack of sun/heat and all the rain.  You need to remove the leaves and get them out of the vicinity.  Do not put anything with fungus in your compost because it spreads so quickly.  Being a master gardner, I occasionally answer questions at our booth at the Farmer Market, and this is the most popular question we have had of late.  The critical part is to do all you can to rid the area of the fungus.  You may call your local Extension Agent for advice.  If your university is a Land Grant School, you will be able to find tons on information on this from your local master gardners.

If you are not familiar with Dave’s Garden, you don’t know what you are missing when it comes to information and general gardner blogging.  People helping people.  http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/tomatoes/all/

Well, another problem, Victoria, is that a lot of these so called "pundits" on the TV and Talk Radio don’t know a whole lot of what they are talking about. And, instead of accurate reporting(Walter Cronkite, come back!), they are saying things because it causes a lot of hoopla, sells copy or ups ratings and they are getting paid a whole lot of money to do it.

I now have an Excel the highlights   on all three bills laid out in PDF, all 15 pages of it and I’m seeing how this works.  There are links to access  those highlights so that one can see it in depth.  Quite a learning experience; I wish I knew how to put the PDF here so all could see it.

Well, if a person has a lick of sense, he sure as hell better tell his physician his wishes.  My parents were both very clear with their doctors on their end of life care;  heck that’s like planning with POA, Living Wills and Self Proving Wills.  What seems to be the problem with this?  When my husband had his brain aneurysm and was admitted to hospital, I rushed home, got his Living Will, and his ICU team taped it to his hospital door at eye level so all personnell would see it.  This is simple common sense, and like all office visits should be covered.  It doesn’t have a danged thing to do with death panels, or whatever they are called.  And, BTW,  at our hospitals when there is a NoCode(some places call them a Code 500 or Do Not Resusitate), everybody and I mean all officers of that hospital, if they are in the house, must appear at the patient’s bedside.  So, it’s not something that is done on impulse.

Are you reading the bills themselves?  Following their status daily through committee?

How many nights each week do you currently cook at home?

EKA,  I forget where you live.  I can tell you that here in Kentucky and surrounds we have had more rain than usual and less sun and Hot Days, which is what tomatos thrive on.  This also accounts for the prices.  Also,  NPR had a segment the other day that said the amount of tomato pickers that are usually up here from Mexico is Way Down and so there are much fewer persons helping with the harvests.

When the weather gets cold and the soil gets dormant, go to the drug store and buy a couple of cartons of Epsom Salts.  This is pure magnesium and is an essential mineral for happy healthy tomatoes.  Hope this helps…
