Do you think ground combat positions in the armed forces should be open to women?

Someone needs to stay of Wikipedia. The Taliban isn’t a country. Bin Laden doesn’t run them. Communists does not equal any bad guy that you want to call communist. You make your argument weak by not knowing or understanding the rhetoric you are spouting.

Do you think ground combat positions in the armed forces should be open to women?

I am a female Vietnam-era veteran. I was a Korean-language trained soldier in the US Army Security Agency, reporting directly through NSA. We (myself and many other females) were not only stationed in a "combat zone," but were expected to perform just as our male counterparts. We had no problem with that. Why would we? We trained along side them. We were just as capable. Technically we were not considered "ground combat" troops. But because of our mission, intercepting North Korean military communications, we were often placed directly in harms way. Because we were also ‘techinally’ spies, we did not have the same Geneva Convention protections as ground combat troops should we have been captured. And that was in the 1970s.

The point I’m trying to make is, we’re already there. Remove the artificial semantics and allow women serving in combat roles the same respect and treatment we do the men in those same roles.

As others have said, why is this even a discussion in this day and age?

What passage or passages from a book, poem, short story or other literary work moved you so much that you've never forgotten it?

Bilbo Baggins: It’s a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to.

Have you ever switched political parties?

There needs to be at least one more choice: Never changed parties, but voted across party lines on occasion. That would be me! (o_O)

Dear President Obama: No One Voted for Despair and Change

I’m guessing you Obama haters get paid for this? Nice job, I suppose. If you have to hurl hate and drama and lies somewhere, you might as well get paid for it.

Dear President Obama: No One Voted for Despair and Change

What morons these troglodytes be. Get over the birth certificate thing already! Everyone has seen it, except those of you who want to believe in gnomes and other mythological creatures.

Should Caroline Kennedy take Hillary's Senate seat?

And yet, no one bats an eye when a spouse is appointed to the seat her husband vacates… I would trust Caroline Kennedy’s political forbearance and instincts (from a family that bleeds public service) than I would another senator’s spouse… ANY other senator’s spouse (except for Hillary Clinton’s spouse).

What Happens to Us After We Die?

LH said: “Realizing that humans, and animals for that matter, are but specks on a spinning marble in space, I could no longer think in pure agnostic terms. As an adult I get great comfort in the idea that my body will be recycled back to nature in one form or another.” I completely agree with this. I find a belief that there is another plane of existence to be muddled thinking that keeps one from truly enjoying and experiencing the life we have here to its fullest extent. That always saddens me!

Are the goings-on within polygamist sects any of our business? Should they be monitored? By whom?

I’m trying very hard to come up with any cogent reason why the goings on in a polygamist group that puts children at risk is *not* within our responsibility to monitor and be our *collective* business. Nope. Can’t think of one.
