Clare, I am so sorry that you are going through such turmoil. The only advice I can give you is to hold those you love close, be the calm in the storm, the safe port.  Don’t let her anger get inside, she will destroy herself in the long run.

Your comment about Adam being a daughter -in- law is especially funny … you’ve come a long way, girl ! I have 3 sons and I’ve been known to comment that I’d be happy if one of them were gay so I could al least have half a daughter … but no avail, they all like women :-(

Adam’s parents were loving and accepting from the get-go, that is how they got such a wonderful son ! 

Clare, I appreciate your explanations, and do not doubt your sincerity. I think I am also picking up a bit of defensiveness which is very understandable. You stumbled upon this website, as we all did, because of a fascination with Adam Lambert. Who can explain that ? We have all become unlikely friends, from around the country…. and world ( salute to the Kiwi’s ) that would have never met otherwise. As women do, and intelligent women especially, over the course of 5400 posts, lots of subjects come up. When you posted about Adam’s sexuality and its conflict with your religious thought I was surprised. He is openly and unapologetically gay and your "truth" tells you that it is an abomination, and yet, you are still fascinated and infatuated by him. The fact that you brought it up told me that you may have a conflict with this "truth" … hence my statement about your searching. One could easily say that God sent you here to challenge that "truth" that homosexuality is an abomination .

As I said before, I had 16 years of private parochial education, I’ve read the Bible many times. After years of questioning, reading, learning, soul searching, I came to my own Truth, as legitimate as yours or anyone else’s, that God is the creation of man, generated over centuries from myths created to answer the question "what comes after we die" and propagated as a means of power and control over the fearful masses.  When you said above " I know it is not what you believe" it is probably because you were shocked that anyone could believe that. I can answer you back that I am shocked that anyone believes in a book written when people thought the sun  went around the earth. It will surprise you even more when I say most of the people I know think the same way I do. Religious belief is such a personal thing that it is no wonder we generally keep it to ourselves. When I say I believe in acceptance and love, I mean it, I truly believe we are all on a personal journey  and if your "truth" makes your life better, I applaud you, I embrace you, and I accept you. My truth has done that for me.

Another thing I know for sure is that we were drawn here for a reason, and to quote someone we all love - "its all good"

Clare, You are far from these hateful people, your concept of love puts you in a much more accepting place, and the fact of your searching for understanding means that you have an open heart.

When I made the comment a while back about some of the most religious people acting in a most immoral way, it is these people I had in mind. The people who are so sure they have the RIGHT answer that they impose their hateful rhetoric on the rest of us. There is something about the bible, and all religious texts in my opinion, that makes people suspend their rational thinking and believe what their mind tells them cannot be true, that is my definition of "faith" . I found it interesting that you quoted Bible verses to prove that the Bible is true, you can’t see the paradox in that ? We are dealing with major issues of life, we are all on our own path and that is what we will be judged on .. if in fact there IS any judging, which my mind tells me there isn’t, but that is my belief and I wouldn’t dream of imposing it on anyone. 

I think we can all agree that acceptance and love is better judgement and hatred, and our beautiful boy certainly personifies that thinking. It’s all good.
