Help, y’all! Researching on-line last night, I came across an article on these bogus AIG "bonuses" which stated that not only will these be given, but another batch will be issued in July. Has anyone else encountered this information? I can’t find the piece today.

I agree, Debra. My brain has become desensitized to the incredible numbers. Does the "illion" start with an M, a B or a T??? It simply doesn’t matter, in my personal reality. It’s all theoretical. My financial life deals in fewer digits. I understand the depth and breadth of the compounded crises, but am frustrated that we are probably still at the mercy of some Wall Street anonymous math whiz in his twenties, producing algorithms that don’t mean diddly.

I think we need a definition of a mini-skirt. At 64, I remember teaching in skirts well above my knees back in the 60’s and 70’s. But just because a skirt ends above the knee doesn’t make it a mini, in my eyes. As a Certified Crone, I wouldn’t wear one of those longish sweaters or knit spandex numbers that curve around the Boopa and simply end there. And any skirt that could be confused with a wide belt would be a bad choice. But I hate to think that all my skirts have to extend to the knee or below.. Reaching 6’ (with mid-height heels), my legs are still pretty good … the rest, not so much. So, what’s the definition of a miniskirt, as opposed to just a SHORT skirt?

With financial and ownership issues, and now the Grand Canyon of financial downturns, I’m afraid the future of ink-stained, newsprint page turning fingers is looking dim. Lee - Wouldn’t it be fantastic if more individuals who aren’t professional politicians could end up in Congress to concentrate on governance and statesmanship. Let’s leave the lobbyists in the lobby. We’re in crisis here; and it’s time to make a concerted effort to see if Community (and State and Nation) Organizing and Reaching Across the Aisle are just platitudes of campaign rhetoric or if they’re the means to a successful recovery from our current economic debacle. Thanks for your help, r r! I went back to the basics (dictionary) and discovered a definition I didn’t know of. Evidently, in an informal usage, “advance” (used singularly) refers to someone doing advance publicity for an event. Lifetime learners, that’s what we are! And an advance she shall be! Whatever the terminology, I congratulate her and wish her luck.
