Wow, the more I read the more I realize how so many things annoy me! My first reaction to the question is when people as - How long did it take you to paint that painting? My response often is 29 years since I needed to learn how to paint it before I could paint it. Why would it matter how long it took to create anything? Does a writer get asked how long it takes to write the novel? Does it devalue any creative process if it is short time to create it? I am sure my day will be filled with new additions to this thread.

Real estate - Plans to move back to the state I was born have been curtailed. Economic reasons brought us to Illinois and 23 years later economic reasons keep us here. Ironic!

I have been trying to go back to the person that brought up our property taxes. Cannot find it but I really cannot get that out of my mind. I have been asking myself the same question about why the taxes keep going up when our property values go down? I understand the economics of the answer but with my area fighting to get rid of another layer of government with the creation of a new village, what I really do not understand is why people don’t get that their taxes will go up with the new additional programs? We have been terrific for the 23 years we have lived here and for many others that have been lifelong residents. How can we not tighten our belts in the governmental agencies when we are struggling to survive in our homes? I am having to pay to get rid of something I never wanted in the first place. Does not compute! Maybe this is just a ploy for some people to create their own jobs at the expense of the taxpayers. Anyone one else having a issue with property taxes?

Sounds like many of us need to saunter up to the bar. When my spouse retired last year, we went shopping and bought a gorgeous bar. I made jokes about needing to drink to handle the retirement. Now I know why we really were meant to own this thing. I may be putting it to more use than I ever thought. So I have the party place, lets set um up!
