You could not be more wrong, Mary. Net Neutrality is all about protecting the internet as it is now from the major providers that want to subvert it for their own benefit. It is the people who oppose net neutrality who seek to restrict access and bandwidth.

Think of the tiered network model as turning the internet into a private tollway, with legalized censorship and anti-competitive practices.

Should marijuana or prostitution be legalized?

Prostitution has been around longer than rule of law. I don’t like prostitution for several reasons, but the truth is that laws have never made it go away - and never will. If it is going to be around anyway, better to regulate it than leave it in the hands of criminals.

Has anyone seen “Dangerous Beauty”, or maybe “Mrs. Henderson Presents”?

As for marijuana, that is a very different situation. I would legalize medical marijuana, but I think that legalizing it for recreational use would just trade one set of problems for another - problems that have not been considered or anticipated.

You are right, Mahulda. The poll did not say that 20% of voters were registered as republicans, it said that only 20% of polled voters were willing to identify themselves as republicans. Actual registration was not part of it.

Don’t worry, Scarlett, it got plenty of play in the media. But that was two years ago, when it actually happened. Since then, everyone involved has faced re-election. The voters have spoken, the issue dealt with.

Too true. The private sector has really failed to deliver. Literally. With their failure to meet the beginning-of-school-year target, it is no wonder the President had to declare an emergency.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is the only published novel by Oscar Wilde, appearing as the lead story in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine on 20 June 1890. Wilde later revised this edition, making several alterations, and adding new chapters; the amended version was published by Ward, Lock, and Company in April 1891.”

Dorian Gray” was “a young man” circa 1890. Allowing for a generation of about 20 years, his grandmother would have been 90+ by the roaring twenties. I was guessing 50s for the clothes, which would have fit for a granddaughter. However, I am no fashionista and I am happy to go with late 20s to 30s. That would fit for a daughter.

We really just made different assumptions about when the time-line started, that’s all. :-)
