liz, i think we have to go with economists on this one. paul krugman is pretty much my favorite economist, and he says $750 billion is too little stimulus. i like lee’s idea of building mag lev trains and tracks. don’t forget that new orleans needs a billion dollars worth of levees. personally, i think our whole electric grid needs a rebuild and a makeover so that many wind and solar power small sources can replace those huge, dirty coal generators. anybody with a good idea needs to tell congress and their senators about it. and the mag lev train cars can be built by the auto companies along with all the light rail cars our new public transit systems all over the country are going to need.

true, brooklyn, i did not get into the idea that hillary may have been influenced by money for her husband’s project. i concur with the commenter who says that is how politics works so far. i do think it is small potatoes compared with anything bush has done. i was not familiar with any motel 6 jokes.

i’m saying that “they” did not commit felonies while bill was in office, unlike the current administration, which has created as well as aided felonies such as the outing of valerie plame. worse, they lied congress and the united nations into an unjustified war of aggression. they created a policy of torture, rendition, and spying on people who use telephones. there is no comparison between the crimes of the bush administration, who very likely did house the likes of karl rove in the white house, and the minor dalliances of former president bill clinton. as for classiness, i admire competent intellectuals who take care of the nation and its people to the best of their ability. bill clinton apologized for the wrong he did. george w. bush never will.

i m, didn’t you know that the former prime minister was a conservative who backed the war all eternity may call bush’s war? in the world of son of a bush, conservatives are gentlemen no matter how full their pockets are stuffed with the people’s money, and obama is “barack the magic negro.”

suzanne, laura bush may be representative of texans, but we hicks would never stoop to such a trick.

diana, charley rose was terrific tonight. not only did he cover all sides of gaza, but he memorialized helen suzman. i still think israel would advance their cause by eliminating the atrocities, though. also, as a friend of mine says, a lot of the timing and design of this attack is for israeli electoral purposes.

out of curiosity, how many of you knew that we (the united states of america) were raining down burning fire on iraqi civilians? did any of you support this behavior?
