Sarah Palin a 'Wasilla Hillbilly,' Didn't Know Africa a Continent? Fox News Begins Regurgitating Rumors From Camp McCain (Video)

Sarah is you and me. When you fault her, you are faulting yourself.” ::Sara Palin is not me. She does not represent me in the slightest. I think it is a given she is a strong personality and I think she is a beautiful woman who is telegenic and would be fantastic on TV as an anchor person or an actress. But she does not represent me in any way other than we both are female human beings. “Her being an outsider, her being focused on helping our peoples, this is her power. I do not care she is not worldly, not experienced in foreign affairs. Who is? Certainly not you and I, most clearly. ” :: Perhaps you don’t care that she is not worldly or up on foreign affairs, but I expect this of my leaders in this modern world. We are a global community and we have to know as much as possible about our fellow citizens of this planet as we can. It behooves us a nation to no longer cling to the xenophobic hubris that has tarnished our reputation. Speak for yourself, Okpulot Taha, I am very up on foreign affairs. I feel it is my obligation and duty to be such and I happen to be a geopolitical fan. I educate myself on a daily basis on this topic and I know I am not the only one who does so. My father was in the Diplomatic Corps so I teethed on foreign affairs and I embrace being worldly. I feel it is extremely important to be a citizen of this planet earth. For someone who claims to be a college professor, I find it rather surprising you would be so strongly in favor of rhetoric that embraces mediocrity.

Whoopi Goldberg: We Have Finally Become Part of the Fabric of the United States of America

Andrea wrote: I’m a Jew. I know that there will never be a Jewish president. I know that Jews are often maligned and blamed and that people when they find that I am a Jew often change their minds about how they feel about me. :: I say that I don’t believe that a Jewish person will never be president. I won’t believe that. And people who blame or malign Jewish people and change their opinions of you or any other Jewish person because of being Jewish are ignorant and not worthy of being taken seriously. I felt I had to say this because I believe it. Bigotry of any kind should not be tolerated and we must make a concentrated effort to move past this mindset.

Sarah N. Are you a TT person, too? That’s our breed for over 20 years now as I have horrible allergies. Tons of grooming if they are to be kept in coat but no worries if clipped back and what a goofy sense of humor. They love to go for Road Trips, take their job seriously as a Companion Breed (meaning if you want privacy in the bathroom, you better close that door tightly!) and are study enough for playful fun.

That’s what we do here, we have adult conversation and it is great fun. Thank you Newzie Snoozie for explaining about the capital letters. See? When we converse, we get to know each other and then we understand each other better.

Kristi Cable, I am sure your heart is in the right place, but the fact you could post this tells me you don’t get the situation in the least. Maybe you don’t feel that black people have been treated poorly lately, but I assure you, just because you haven’t heard of lynchings or hoses being turned on kids doesn’t mean there isn’t a form of that problem. You have the luxury of walking down the street and not being “noticed” as “different” and that has shaped your attitude. No, not everyone is racist and not every black person has a chip on his or her shoulder but to say that black people need to “get over themselves” is incredibly offensive. You have to know there were plenty of Americans who did not vote for Senator Obama because of the color of his skin and if you don’t know that, let me assure you, there were. I live in eastern WA next to the Idaho state border and I know plenty of misguided souls who did not think they could live with a president of color. Suffice it to say, there are all kinds of people who need to get over themselves. I am not attacking you, please understand that. I am giving you an understanding of this matter from the point of view of someone of mixed ancestry. My own sibling and I are so different in appearance that we could be considered not siblings at all. I have been treated completely differently in the presence of this sibling by very nice people. People as nice as I am sure you are. Until you understand what it is like to walk into a room where you are the only person who is “different” and when nobody actually notices you are “different” then you will not understand how Whoopi felt today. But if you really try, I’m sure a good person like you could see it is not about having a chip on one’s shoulder. It’s about seeing this country finally walk its talk. It is my firm belief that the children growing up today with Obama as their president will be the first generations that do not “see” color of skin. Until then, there is still much work to do. Accept that this is a grand and fine moment for the African American community and let the sun shine on it.

A Style Quiz From the Etceterist

I think Michelle Obama is a beautiful, healthy, fit woman. Whatever she wants to wear and what makes her happy and comfortable, I am in favor of. She represents much more as a First Lady than a fashion plate. The fact she wore jeans and a hoodie on the trail endeared her to me forevermore.

What are you doing this morning?

To OUR Lady Diana, have a safe and glorious trip. I look forward to hearing your impressions of D.C. when you come back. Meanwhile, our mantra is Yes We Can and instead of Drill, Baby, Drill: Education, Baby, Education.

What are you doing this morning?

John, you handsome devil, this is going to have to be the next civil rights battle, obviously. We must change our attitudes in this country regarding personal choices. Who one loves is not a matter to be legislated. We will continue to march on with this matter. It is NOT over.

What are you doing this morning?

No kidding, countrywoman. I’m actually breathing again. JOY

Liz Smith: The Red and the Blue

Liz, in my not-as-long life as yours, but long, I did not think we were going to see this day. I was so impressed with John McCain’s speech; that was the man I knew and admired. I thank all the people who worked so hard to make this happen. The people who moved out of their comfort zones to see Senator Obama as not a threat but an agent of uniting us. The young people who reached out and took hold of their futures. I was so very proud of us. And I thank you, Liz, and the other women of Wowowow who give us this site to discuss all our thoughts and feelings. When you learn more about each other, it makes it easier to cooperate and care.

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

Yesterday, we elect Obama. Today, our stock markets are crashing. Okpulot Taha Choctaw Nation No kidding, it’s been going up and down and up and down for weeks as Sherrie Crews has pointed out. It has hardly “crashed” and it will continue to go up and down until things settle. If you can’t be part of the solution and keep your negativity about the choice this nation has made in check, at least don’t be more of the problem. This will take time to dig us out of the ditch we are in. If John McCain can be gracious, so can you.

Whoopi Goldberg: We Have Finally Become Part of the Fabric of the United States of America

Last night, after 21 months of horrid, painful labor, this nation gave birth to itself. From the ashes, like the Phoenix, we rose again. I have never been so moved or proud. We ARE the United States of America and our lives are woven together into the fabric of this great country. We have the people, the power and the heart to move mountains. God Shed His Grace On Thee. I saw that for the first time last night in action. I saw that not only were all men created equal, but this time the young, women, everyone stood up for what this country was founded for. I give immense credit to Senator John McCain for his most gracious speech. THAT was the man I knew and respected. So, this Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for because now everyone can be at the table. I am so happy for this country.

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

DeB, I think this country just suffered through labor pains for 21 months and gave birth to itself again. Like the Phoenix, from the ashes we shall rise.

Barack Hussein Obama Wins Historic Election; Will Become 44th President of The United States of America

I thank all of you for participating in the most interesting, invigorating political cycle I’ve lived through. I thank Senator McCain for his most gracious speech. He was tonight as I always remembered him and I wish him peace and some relaxation. I know he will do what he can for this country which he loves so. Good luck to President Elect Obama and his beautiful family. The girls have earned their puppy! I did not think this would be possible in my lifetime and I look forward to working along with all of you to make right our fantastic country.
