My Alias, while it could be said that many supporters have slammed Palin, Senator Obama has never said anything untoward about her, even when baited at the last debate by the moderator to do so. He has never slammed her. Others you can call out on that but the senator himself.

Once a loved one has died, there is no going back to express unsaid feelings. If Senator Obama hadn’t gone to see his grandmother, I would have been shocked. What does surprise me is how lacking in compassion some people can be. How is it strange he took off time to visit her? Better yet, what I think is strange is that the McCain campaign has not issued a single word of condolence when I’m sure the same would be extended were Senator McCain to be in the same position with his mother. Even if one isn’t a fan of Senator Obama and has no intentions of voting for him, I’m sure one could resurrect some element of humanity and realize what it must feel like to be in his shoes at the moment. Death is a part of life, we all experience it. It is the ultimate form of democracy.

Elaine, I gave you credit for being intelligent and I did that with all honesty and respect. It appears you do not feel I deserve the same. I will say this, I am intelligent enough to choose the words I use when I phrase things so as not to overstate and should a person not understand me, I know to be gracious and clarify with out being insulting. I support your right to feel and believe AND voice your feelings and I respect the fact we may not see eye to eye but I would never be so ungracious as to make a statement regarding another’s intelligence if I did not know that person well. You’ve not met me. I am polite when I disagree and I have never done anything to you to deserve this. What a shame.

Elaine, are you accusing Senator Obama of being a rapist?!? I support your right to voice your opinion and to vote for whomever you think is best. But I think this: “… Well Iris, lets just see how much Obama donates to those special needs kids, from all the money he garners off the backs of all the wealthy people he intends to rape.” phrasing is very harsh and inaccurate and really beneath such an intelligent woman as you must be. I am sure any person who has literally been raped would back me up on that choice of words. Whatever you believe Senator Obama is going to be guilty of doing to rich people, I doubt highly he is going to rape them.

I think the writer of the article is just pointing out that Sarah didn’t buy American labels. You know, if one is going to dump that kind of money on looking great, buy American designers, at least that was my take on it.

You are very young and probably don’t remember, but there were no riots when Martin Luther King was murdered and that would have been a time for one. Being this fearful is not good for you and not good for your little girl, you will transmit it to her and you don’t want to do that. Obama is too grounded and intelligent. He is not going to support any kind of bias. He proved that when he was elected the editor of the Harvard Law Review and did not expend special favors to the radical black people who expected it from him. We will ALL have to respect the law. These young black men stopped for speeding whom you are speaking of, they are trash talking, there is no validity to this. They may think they will get a free pass if Obama is elected but they are displaying a strong lack of knowledge of the man. If you do not want to vote for Obama, don’t. But please don’t let your life be ruled by fear, it is not good for you or your baby.

Phyllis, I saw that Now as well and was struck by that response by the woman being interviewed. At one time there were signs that read “No Irish Need Apply” “No Jews” and the Italians spent some time on the list of being thought as lesser people than those already here. In fact, only the Native Americans can claim first rights to citizenship and I’m always disheartened by such xenephobic outlooks. The woman being interviewed may feel perfectly justified in her opinion but it shows a sad lack of understanding of the changing demographics in this diverse country and a stubborn refusal to accept this change. This mindset reminds me of that old saying “Don’t confuse me with the facts, I’ve already made up my mind.”

Star, while I do not agree with you, I do take note of your passion for keeping Senator Obama from achieving his goal. This is your right. However, I say to you the same thing you have gone on record for saying to those of us as equally passionate about Senator McCain and Governor Palin not winning: You will survive if Obama becomes president. We will all survive and life will go on.
