Did the movie 'The Bucket List' with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman get you thinking? If so, what's at the top of your list?

How did you get to Antiartica, C A? I spent a few weeks on St. George Sound (think that’s the right sound) in Alaska. One of the days of one of those weeks was spent watching a 500 foot glacier calving and a nest of fledgling owls, which were as curious about my traveling companions and I as we were of them. It was awe inspiring sitting there in all that quiet with the glacier giving off serious rumbles from time to time.

Oh Liza, that sounds grand. Can I come too? I’ve always been sorry I didn’t pick up my younguns when they were in grade school and move to Sausalito to live on a houseboat. But a houseboat for the summer. Well, now that’s doable. Gonna try to give it a try. Thanx for the idea. I find I am more sorry for the things I ‘didn’t’ do over the things I did do. Anyone else have that problem? Off, Off and away!

Growing up in a small traveling circus? How fascinating? Bet you do have a lot to write about. Thanx for the chuckle, Chris.

I’m trying to do the same thing, Chris. Unfortunately my life is a bit like Julia’s and I haven’t gotten around to all the writing I want to do. Have one article I think would interest Oprah, but haven’t a clue how to reach her to see if she is interested. Anyone know how to get an article in Oprah’s magazine? But back to the question — hug my family lots; write, write, write and picnic, picnic, picnic at Stinson Beach.

What television show do you miss the most?

I miss West Wing. It was so good for so long. I’m tempted by “24”, but don’t watch it because I just plumb don’t approve of the violence in our culture, let alone on TV, especially of the ‘24’ hour kind. Surprizingly, Mark does not do well with violent TV programs either. He has a TV in his quarters and watches cartoons and family shows. The Disney Channel is his favorite. Interesting. I think he learns about behaviour with these shows. I remember when I was a young wife and mother of two small ones. The kid’s father was getting credits he needed to go to UC at the local community college. We did not have a television, so every Friday night we would pick up the kids and the ironing and go to my folks house for dinner and several hours of ironing and watching those old, old shows. Twas, other than the kids, our entertainment for the week.

What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?

I guess I’m spending Memorial Day playing on WOWOWOW. :):):):) I did sit a spell this morning, sending strings of light to Iraq to surround all of our soldiers there — doing what I can to keep them safe. Hey, Candace, what a great way to spend your holiday. Witnessing your daughter stepping into the big wide world. May adventure accompany her. Congrats, from Northern California, Candace’s daughter.

Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann's Answer to a Wandering Brain

Dear Maureen, your rabbit made me think of an enlightening experience I had just the other night. Was watching one of the PBSs that was showing a documentary on Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At the end, they showed a full face picture. It had never occurred to me to look in a president’s eye, but for some reason I looked in Franklin’s in that picture. He had remarkably kind, a little sad eyes. Then they showed pictures of some of our other presidents, they told stories, too. Their own stories, not necessarily Franklin’s. Truman, for example had curious, searching into eyes. From now on I am looking at all the presidential candidates eyes — forever. They will tell us what to do. I guess the eyes should have it.

Minds are not a part of the brain. They are a mandatory piece of the soul that hangs out in a circle round your being. Collecting stuff it didn’t use to know and letting out the things it has always known per each request.

To Lose a Child

I’ve also noticed, Shiela, how intimate the computer can be. Reasons must be interesting.

To Lose a Child

Sabrina, my comments asking you why you felt ‘that’ way were much too sharp. I did not mean them that way. Exchanging feelings and experiences, from my experience, can help each of us live our lives better. My words were meant as an invitation, nothing more.

To Lose a Child

Sabrina, can you tell us why you feel that way? You’re obviously among friends.

To Lose a Child

A soft, sweet touch on your shoulder, Doc’s girl.

To Lose a Child

Oh, Donna, so much. What can I possibly say. Sabrina was out-of-line. Why, I don’t know, but I, too, think she should be looking at it. I, too, have learned with Mark’s and my experience that Joy is much better than Sadness. Sometimes I think I have lingered too long in the sadness and held Mark back from going through and out of his own sadness. One thing I have learned in caring for Mark — I’m a lot more selfish than I thought I was. Fascinating discovery.

11 miscarriages, Bella. That had to be so tough; I’m sorry. BUT, seems you and your husband got a full house up there in heaven waiting for you. HUGZ

Mugsy, —one of the neatest things I have ever heard a human being utter — Brother and I qualified on the basis of our SATs, but never joined because we just thought being smart was only a start.” You’re right! You must have a great family.
