wOw Scenes: Our Desks

Oh, no, no, no J. Boylynn. I loved this desk thingi. In fact, think it would be fun for all of us to send pics of our desks. I love my desk, loved Lilly’s LA desk too, but we would have to change the pillows to purple unless my daughter came to visit, then we’d put the orange pillows back.

What is your favorite possession?

Dear lin si, your writing is like poetry.

What is your favorite possession?

Hey, Joani — what a joy! Will laff all day tomorrow thinking of you on that red tractor.

What is your favorite possession?

Oh, no, no, no, Gianna. It took me 39 years to get through college.

What's the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

Watching Disney cartoons on our Channel 55 the other night. They were so insane, I couldn’t leave, but sat and laughed with my son, Mark. We both agreed that we couldn’t understand why we thought it was so funny????? My kids both have a fantastic laugh: Mark roars frequently and my daughter, Gay, laughs with gusto often too. Great to have kids that laugh a lot with such enthusiasm. Grandsun, Alex, not laughing much yet. But suspect he’ll get it pretty soon — ur we’ll start laughing at him. YO DER!

Cokie Roberts on the Chances of an Obama-Hillary Ticket

Lady Gator, agree with you wholeheartedly about Bush’s behaviour when 911 happened. What else was he supposed to do — scare a bunch of little ones half to death, totally ruin a special (being read to by the president of the U.S., event. I’m for Obama and have little use for Bush and all of his costly mistakes, but his behaviour was right on at that school. I also think it is stupid to bring up McCain’s 100 years comment. We all know he didn’t mean it the way it has been latched onto. Hillary and Obama both have those kinds of things attached to them by either very dumb or unscrupulous people. None of them can just up and pull out of Iraq. It’s going to take quite a bit of finesse no matter who occupys the While House. I’m sick of all the nonsense fed to the American people, which far too many of them are buying. We need an educated popoulace. One that can talk about what kind of America we want — then go for it. WE NEED A NATIONAL DISCUSSION ON WHO WE ARE AND WHO WE WANT TO BE. That discussion will not happen unless it is made popular by politicians, Hollywood, pundits, etc.. Can somebody get the ball rolling?

wOw's Comments of the Week 5/10 - 5/16

OBAMA, me too Pamela. I heard him say something about China that made a lot of sense. It was just an observation at this point, but he commented that if China becomes the economic world power, that China’s military will not be far behind. And, remember, that China has buque (sp) guys because of their ‘one child’ policy. All tha testerone running around! HULP! Then as many of must have seen on Charlie Rose this Thursday nite, the young very nice looking guy of India lineage who had traveled all over Asia and the Mid-East and written about it, mentioned when Charlie asked him — that he had been Obama’s Mid-East/Asia consultant for over a year. Obama, not surprizingly, is looking ahead; that man can think. Hope he wins and Hillary doesn’t serve as VP. There are so many political stars running around these days from which to build a cabinet — Joe Biden, Bill Richardson, John Edwards, 3 or 4 top level black guys who would make great VPs or cabinet members; although I guess it would be impossible to put a black vice-president with a black president. Sadly, not sure a good part of America could take that. Hillary should remain in the senate, although she might be good in a cabinet post. But think Senate Leader would be a great place for her. She has done a magnificent job as Senator of New York. I’m hoing Barack does win. If he does, there will be so many fantastic possibilities for an absolutely smashing administration. Lotta hope there for me, in spite of our myriad of really tough problems.

Mary Wells: 'Birthdays Are Bad for Your Health'

You are absolutely right, Karen. Can see from you pic — you ARE beautiful.

Mary Wells: 'Birthdays Are Bad for Your Health'

Oh, ‘No’, ‘No’, ‘No’ Lennie. You can always flaunt it. Met an 85 year old woman the other day who was as cute as she could be. She had on simple pants, a blue long-sleeved T-shirt and a Red feather boa swung around her neck with a smile and a twinkle to go with it. I’m taking lessons from her. She said she exercised every day.

Being alive is so GOOD. I had a strange experience today: I was fussing to myself about having to fix dinner for my son — cooking can get a bit old. But then I said, “What is the matter with you woman. Your son who has a traumatic brain injury because of a drunk driver is ALIVE, your grandsun is an interesting kid — I like him. You and your daughter have a great relationship. all of you are pretty healthy, including me, there are no snipers or bombs on the streets of your neighborhood. We are blessed. What’s a little dinner. At least we have food. Yeah, woman, “what’s the matter with you?” :):):):)

What about celebrating BIG time every five years after 50 — ALL year! 50, 55 60 65 70 etc. — seems about right to me. Just let the minor cords go. The best birthday I ever had was my 75th. Didn’t want to invite anyone who didn’t know how old I was, so invited about 30 close freinds and family. Hired a caterer, food was great. House was beautiful and I looked pretty durn good too. An amazing experience to be with people you have known at different levels for years and years; people who care about you. I got good frens. Had never gathered them together before. Caterer said she had never seen such a group of congenial people — and all but a few of us are talkers. GREAT Evening for me. Happy Birthday everyone whenever that might be.
