Jackie OhOh I just want voting records when he was in Illinois and what has he done in Wash? Some say he worked well with others, some say he doesn’t. Another issue, he can’t change the climate of washington on his own. The lobbyists - i.e. corporations have tremendous influence - unless something is done to get them out of there, it will be business as usual. The only people that can do that are the American people exerting their influence with their wallets and pressuring or congress to clean it up. They sit up there like fat cats.

Deni G - Where did you find his voting record when he was a state senator? I would be interested? Voting records mean a lot to me. All I could find is that he has a habit of abstaining from votes. Now I can understand that occasionally, but not all the time. Sometimes you have to be able to make the tough decisions, and not just abstain, and therefore stay ‘above’ the issue. Especially if you are President. When questioned about not voting on an issue - his response was “I didn’t like the wording of….’ this or that etc… (of course I am paraphrasing.) If President he can veto, but then what is going to get done? What did you like about his voting record. I am not happy with this election cycle that much, so my vote is still out there. What issues has he put his money where his mouth is (besides running for one of the most powerful positions in the free world). You mention his voting record, tell us what he has done. Someone please?

Jamie, I am glad The Obama’s defy stereotypes. I like it, it is refreshing. I don’t know if we can say that Republicans just stand for the status quo. The first Bush Presidency had more people of color in department positions than any other presidency before his, I don’t think that Clinton had more in his. Then Bush Jr had more people of color than any other President before him. So I don’t think it is status quo anymore.

Hey, I thought we were still in America. Whether big or small mind, we can talk about anything. Is that like “Time wounds all heels”? Hey there are plenty of big ideas that no one seems to be talking about yet, but I bet we will get there sooner or later.

Star, even if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination, we should all thank her for doing all the hard work to be where she is. She made it seem absolutely natural for a woman to be running for president. I will always be grateful to her for it.

Suzanne C. I didn’t come here just to talk politics and get angry about what is wrong in the world. My education is in East Asian Languages and Cultures, (Chinese) with a background in International Relations. Although, I have a completely different type of business, those remain some of my big interests. I also studied art and music for my own pleasure and fulfillment. The 24 hour news cycle bombards us with a constant stream of negativity, with very few solutions or methods that work to change the world. (How many people do you know that are on anti-depressants - it is rampant.) Therefore, although the Iraq question of the day was very important to me as the mother of a soldier, the other questions are interesting, and yes, FUN. I love women who have great senses of humor. Funny comments let me laugh out loud. With all that is going on in the world, as well as my world, I like that it is a mixed bag of topics and issues. These are a lot of the things I talk to my girlfriends about. I love to hear from such interesting personalities with ideas and perspectives that are not mine. I don’t know what they have been through in their lives, but it is interesting to read what they think and feel. I also enjoy your comments and your passion. I have needed to step back a little bit in the last year. The last 15 years have included me losing 9 members of my families. Had a baby at 41, faced cancer 3 times and had to pick myself up and watch my son go off to war 3 times. Therefore, when I need a distraction or some stimulation, this is a great forum to reach out and listen to others, and how the world has affected them. I applaud that the women who sponsor this site want to make money, because if they do they can expand and employ more people. To me, that as an intelligent positive. They invested money to start and run the site, why shouldn’t they profit from it? We have a very small business, our employees are like family, we like to make more money, so we can pay more money. And there is more to it than just making money - there is a lot of hard work. It sounds like you have a vision for a website, why don’t you do it. I’ll come visit. I am sure it would be interesting. But don’t drop off of this one. We would miss you. If Ms. Smith hadn’t put the pic’s of those tacky statues ( what would Diana’s children think?) we wouldn’t be having this conversation. The last time I was in London was in 1981 when Charles and Diana got engaged. I loved Harrod’s and can’t imagine those statues there.

Sue, Good question, I have wondered that myself. He and Hillary started running over a year ago - why are they being paid for a job they are not there to do, and McCain has been at it the last six months. I think this is ridiculous. We are just one big election cycle. And ALL the MONEY. Geez - wouldn’t the parties to better for the American public by creating jobs and filling the empty food banks. Who says there is no money. There is plenty of money just corrupted distribution.

Barbara and Ladies, for me most people I know have some kind of great adversity that they have overcome in their lives, or worked their way up the hard way. Hard work and using your opportunities or making opportunities has been part of women’s ‘backbone’ to success. I have a great respect for Michelle Obama, she is very successful and could end up being First Lady, but to me, to feel sorry for someone is like saying they aren’t good enough. Michelle Obama has lived and proved her capabilities. She is a candidates wife and whether we like it or not, she is going to be in the firing line for a long time. She’s a big girl and is capable of standing up for herself. Besides, who says she is not admired? I’ll bet most women on this forum have admiration for her, and rightly so.

What do you sleep in?

A slightly worn pink cotton RL night gown. It has lace in a deep V cut on the neck - love it. Used to sleep naked until almost 26 years ago had my first son, had to get up and down and rock and snuggle so had to put the night clothes back on. I work at home so if I end up on the phone early, before I have time to change, nighty has to be a little warm and comfortable.

How do you feel about Iraq right now? What is your biggest fear, and what is your biggest hope?

Suzanne, there has been a recent study of the homeless, and it is less than 2% that are veterans. Many are families. Meth has had an unparalleled affect on creating homelessness. Many are children.
