Rembrandt? Picasso? O'Keeffe? Tell us: Who is your favorite artist?

Georgia, thank you!  it’s been a year since we started communicating.  where is that red thing that you used to use?  I always stopped to see what you had to say when  I spotted it.

It’s been a while since I’ve had anything to say on wow.  It had gotten so mean and spiteful.  A thread about art is pretty hard to get mean about.  This thread was so pleasant to read.

How is your old car?  Mine is still running.  It has 9 months to go before it has to go through DEQ again.  It’s been quite a year and those of us who are very careful with our resources have a lot of company now.

I’m reserving judgement about wow.  I had no idea that a bunch of women could be so hateful.  Nice talking to you.  Bev.

Is Mona Lisa frowning? How do you think the current recession will affect the art world?

Diana T.

We here in Oregon are the beneficiaries of many of FDR’s art works.  ——wrote songs about the Columbia River and it’s dams.  [I can’t remember his name.] Timberline Lodge is full of paintings, sculpture and fabrics done for the WPA I think.  Our courthouses and schools all over the state have paintings done the same way.  Just recently one of our art schools held a showing of  WPA work.

Rise 'n' Shine: What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?

Susan, For twenty five years it was a locally roasted French Roast from Hawthorn Coffee and now it is Stumptown which is also locally roasted.  I have an Gaggia expresso machine that I purchased here in Portland Oregon in 1983.  It is still working.   it still produces the best la creme on top.   I learned to drink espresso’s with a cube of sugar and a twist of lemon in New Orleans in the sixties.  I’ve never found anything better.

Are you in New York.  My daughter is an artist in the city.  Lovely place.  Bev.

Palin Scoffs at Phony Planned Parenthood's 'Political Theater'

You both missed it. Someone, unknown ran the ad, knowing that Planned Parenthood would send Palin a thank you note since the donations were in her name. It was a JOKE on her!

Myrna Blyth: The Last Time I Talked to Jim Brady

I’ve reading Mr. Brady’s column in Parade for more years than I can count. I liked the way he figured out how to like each person he interviewed. I’m sure they weren’t all easy, but always find something kind to say. I’ll miss it every Sunday morning. Happy trails Jim.

Ladies in the Know Offer Obama WMD Advice

DB, This is an example of the intellectual quality of the people the Republican party has recruited over the last 29 years. If you can get people to believe stupid lies, that’s who you want when your shoveling the baloney to get their votes. Unfortunately enough time has past now and that is all that is left and now they are running for office. Re the Bush years and all those wonderful appointments he made. I’m embarrassed to be a Republican.

Marjorie, Socialism was around a hell of a long time before Communism. Just a reality check!

kb, Is that the flim flam that creationest are using to keep christians away from science. Wilson say’s he does believe in God. If you think you are doing the young people of tommorrow a favor by discounting science you are crazy. We need them for the future of our beleagured world. Stop it, it isn’t a joke! You might think about covering your bases. All those end timers that were around 40 years ago are still waiting. I have a passel of neices and nephews who didn’t get a proper education because their mother was busy preparing for the end of the world. Well she’s gone and the kids are well into middle age with educations that ill prepared them for the future. Again I say it isn’t a joke.
