Happy Bastille Day! Who would you like to send to the guillotine?

Yikes….I would never do that!!!!! But…….. I do have this boy doll that looks like that horrible Chuckie Doll who ravaged the town. I just can’t like that doll. If I could find a nice sharp guillotine, I might give that doll a little push to the blade.

Down Memory Lane with TaB

RE: The post……By countrywoman on 07/12/2008 5:10 pm Hi countrywoman…..good to “see” you. I fully agree. I love pulling weeds and mixing the compost. Then seeing my plants grow. Even though I don’t have a big plot since my ground was once a walnut tree forest I still love my garden. I had to replace the soil where I grow garden plants as the walnut residue otherwise kills the plants/ruins the fruit/veggie. The costs of fresh anything is just so expensive. But when health necessitates, you do what you have to. :::::::::smile::::::: See you around….another time….another post. Peace and Goodwill to all…………….doll

Where to Invest During an Economic Downturn, by Liz Peek

Do you mean you actually have money to invest???? Of course you do….. you are a celebrity….I am a middle class woman and there’s no way we have any spare money at the moment. Is that hard for the wow executives to fathom what goes on in the real world?? Sure I used to have investments. I made a lot of money. Then horrible medical conditions changed that. Had to cash in almost everything to pay the remaining thousands of dollars of bills left over after the insurance plus the credit cards, utilities, food, etc etc etc. Pray for health. Pray for good times. Pray for an economic turnover. Pray for continued wealth and good times. Pray that the pension and social security checks will stretch and stretch as prices continue to rise. And right now I am investing every spare penny I have in buying flowers for sprucing up the yard in case we have to sell the house. Also in plants which bear edible fruit and vegetables. And the rest in paint for the walls to keep the inside of the house spruced up in order to get the most from it in the event worse comes to worse. Catch -22 in my case.

Should 70-year-old women be given in-vitro fertility treatments?

Why in the world would a 70 year old want to have a baby? Would it be to gain media notoriety? That isn’t right. Some thoughts: 1. The chances of having a downs syndrome child are very great at this age. NOT FAIR to the child. 2. How will the 70 year old feel getting up every 3 or 4 hours for feedings? Or, would she hire a nanny. That isn’t right. NOT FAIR to the child as a child needs its mother during the first weeks of life…..and of course always needs the mother. 3. Will the 70 year old still be living when the child graduates from grade school, high school or college. Maybe for the grade school graduation, pushing it on the high school and doubtful on the college graduation. NOT FAIR to the child. 4. It’s very lonely for a child to be without a mother. That happened to me. The older the birth mother, the fewer years with the child. NOT FAIR to the child. Final Thought: May the Lord have mercy on the 70 year old who chooses this. If the Lord would have wanted women to have babies at this age, he would not have built an “end to the fertile days” into our bodies. Then we would have had menses until the day we died……mercy mercy.

Honor Killing in Georgia: Daughter Killed for Leaving Arranged Marriage

This is America. Not Pakistan. I have a hard time understanding how anyone could do such an uncivilized thing.

HerTube: Older Women? Beautiful Lovers

Hear ye …… Hear ye….. I am one of those older women who got her a younger man. Yep it’s true. We do make wonderful lovers!!

For Women in Asia It's Still: 'Who's Your Daddy?' by Vishakha N. Desai

I hope that any woman in any country will eventually have an easier time of rising to the top. I remember having to climb up the corporate ladder to the realm of success. It wasn’t easy. It always seemed the other gender (those dang men HA HA) always had an easier time. Sometimes the company would hire a new man and before long he was ahead of me on the corporate ladder. Meanwhile, I was still back on the rung hanging on and struggling to get there. But ….. I made it to the top eventually. Women have always been known for their persistency….and I sure don’t see that changing. It always helps us accomplish our goals.

The Unhappy Would-Be First Ladies

RE: Someone stating Cindy McCain as the founder of operation smile. That is not correct! The following is a quote from the Operation Smile site….which I knew was founded by a wonderful surgeon and his wife. Quote: Operation Smile was founded by Dr. William P. Magee, a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen, a nurse and clinical social worker. In 1982, the Magees traveled to the Philippines with a group of medical volunteers to repair children’s cleft lips and cleft palates. They discovered hundreds of children ravaged by deformities, and although they helped many children, the volunteers were forced to turn away the majority of those who sought help. The Magees saw the need and Operation Smile was born.

The Decade Ahead for Mary Wells

My past was sorrowful at times, but being a wonderful woman who has drastically improved my self esteem over the years, I would love to repeat the years 1961 through 1971. 1. I remember one time calling my very ill mother a witch because she wouldn’t let me go to a party when I was eleven. She died when I was 12. I would love to recall that incident. 2. I had a boyfriend at age 16 who wanted to try doing “it”. I let him. I regret that. 3. I started smoking cigarettes at age 16 and drinking at parties. I even got drunk on sloe gin. I should never have smoked and drank in those days. I don’t smoke now but I do enjoy a glass of wine. 4. My godfather was a lecherous old man who once, and only once, abused me sexually and I didn’t tell my dad or anyone until several decades later I told my sister. I regret that I failed to notify my dad. 5. I was a cheerleader in high school and college and I loved it. I want to do that again. 6. I married my first husband and found very soon I didn’t love him. I would want to find the right person for the right reason if I could redo that. To step back in time would probably shock us all….. Peace and Goodwill…….doll

Sunday is President George W. Bush's birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?

From a former lifelong, multi-generation Republican!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your arrogance and cockiness became your strongest abilities. And our country suffered from this Mr. President. As each year of your service (????) passes I have become more and more disappointed at your inability to sustain the beliefs of many Americans. Yes, I will wish you a happy birthday on the same weekend I wish my country a happy birthday. And, on my country’s birthday, I also will remember the Americans who have given their lives so needlessly on the battlefields. Next year I will remember the day of America’s birthday. However, yours I will not.

Which Founding Father could save us today?

As someone else said…the constitution was a masterpiece. It was almost as if our leaders in those first days of our country had premonitions of what was coming. I think that today’s world is much different and doubt that just one could save us today. In today’s world, we must band together and save “us” by making the right choices. Bless our forefathers for wanting independence. They felt strongly that the vast land which eventually became the United States of America was important enough to fight for and die for. And, that same need to stay independent and free through the years, has kept our country strong. Let Freedom Ring. Liberty and Justice for all. Peace and Goodwill to my fellow Americans on our special day….. doll

Have you ever gone topless at the beach?

It sure wasn’t at the beach….it was in my teenage years at a Sunday School church pool party at the local public pool. After diving off the high board and I came up with no bikini top. For a few seconds I didn’t realize it. The boys in my sunday school class grabbed the bikini top and played “keep away” with it for about 45 minutes. All the time, I am in deep water, trying to stay afloat, while covering up by boobies…..of course the boobies are trying to escape my arms to float on the water since I even had big boobies then! :::::::::giggle::::::::::

Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

As I have always promoted, each person has the right to post what they want and not be ridiculed, slandered or otherwise roasted on the fire. Even though I don’t like Miss Coulter, I read this thread out of curiosity. I really am not interested in her opinion, so rather than get mad and “huff away” from this wonderful site, I will simply use my cursor to pass on by any new posts concerning her, or, if I find she is a part of a thread once I get there, I will use my backspace key to get the hell out of that particular thread (just like I do on other threads which just don’t interest me) This might be something others might want to do to make sure your blood pressure stays lows and a way to assure you stay on this site. I, for one, don’t want those of you who said you would leave, to do any such thing! Peace and Goodwill to all…………………. doll

What does patriotism mean to you?

Patriotism to me is when I hear God Bless America, America the Beautiful, My Country ‘Tis of Thee and The Star Spangled Banner and tears form in my eyes. Just like I felt in the first weeks after 9-11. Let Freedom Ring!
