It was beyond thrilling and I am relishing the wonderful euphoria of Hope swirling all around and through my entire world and being. Loved the whole day. Loved the piece by John Williams and the outstanding musicians who performed it. Thought Obama’s speech one for the ages. Loved the poem, though I did feel I might have delivered it better than did the poet herself. Was disappointed by the flub, but they’ve fixed it for the ages and as a bar against all who wanted so much to raise questions by doing a proper oath-taking in the White House. Loved the little girls and their outfits and our new First Lady’s outfit. Did not like the ball gown. Had hoped for an emerald green satin. Oh well, we now officially have a CLASS ACT in the White House! They are simply superb and our nation is going to be able to once again hold its head UP among the other nations of this world!

You are mistaken, though I share your great joy over Barack Obama being president. Did you not know that black men got the vote FIFTY (50) years before women did? The 15th amendment of these United States gave them that right in 1870. And in all states except many of those in the deep south, vote they did! In 1965 Johnson signed the VRA (Voting Rights Agreement) and the southern states had to stop putting up all of their wicked barriers to Afro-Americans registering to vote. Check it out.

Jill Biden Welcomes Students to the Naval Observatory

I wondered that very same thing! The Bidens do not and will not be making the White House their home! Someone has goofed up here.

Ann Coulter Comes Out Swinging on the 'Today' Show

Amazing what dupes big media can turn out to be. Take a loud-mouthed harridan, add like-minded rumor-monger friends willing to put a big fat lie out there about her being “banned for life,” and the media caves to give the lying shrew exactly the time slot she was aiming for! Ugly! Ugly! Ugly!

Lesley Stahl: The Best Day (Photos)

That was lovely, Lesley. Well, maybe not about the giraffe picking his nose with his tongue, but then, one has another fact stored away in the tiny grey files. Learn at least one new thing every day is my motto!

What is brand-new in your life?

Willem. Willem is the quite brand new in my life. He is 15 days old this day, having burst into this world on December 21st not liking CHANGE one little bit. He likes it better now, thank you very much. Mommy keeps him warm and dry and very well fed. Looking all around is quite good stuff. Willem is my 15th great grandchild; my 8th great grandson. We call him Will.

In these frightening financial times, have you stopped using your credit cards?

I voted the “no, I can’t afford to live without them”, but do not feel that is quite accurate. Fully retired now, and hating fiercely to shop (a shopping mall seems just short of hell to me), I really need these credit cards to purchase from L.L. Bean and LandsEnd and such catalogs. I buy my books and DVDs and CDs from Barnes & Noble on line. Both of my two cards get paid off in full every single month. I have never, ever carried a balance or paid one penny of interest. But I simply do not see how I could carry on my particular life style without these cards!

Anderson Cooper Not Laughing at Rachel Maddow

I just love Rachel Maddow. I admit I would like to hear (on her show and from her) more straight news and more in depth reporting of some of the other quirky and quarky bits and pieces of news world-wide which really should grab our attention. She would be so much better than most at presenting these. Still, she is a Joy!

Another Christmas been and gone. Today is …

A day to write thank you notes. I was brought up to believe I would be a total failure and outcast if they were not written and mailed before New Year’s Day, so this is the day to do them and avert THAT disaster!

What Christmas carol says it all for you this year?

I HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY Especially verse 3, but the whole thing is perfect. Here is verse 3: And in despair I bowed my head, ‘There is no peace on Earth,’ I said, ‘For hate is strong, and mocks the song Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Virgin Birth More Believable Than Darwin's Theory, Say Americans

Have been urging those in this debate who do not “believe” in Evolution to read, read, read. This because I am convinced they have not studied the discipline of Science at all. Have refrained, however, from advising what to read. Libraries and book stores are full of everything from paperbacks to humongous tomes on the subject. If I were to advise one recent book, I would choose one of only 374 pages, a rather normal-size book and extremely easy to read. It is THE GOD DELUSION by Richard Dawkins. A wonderful book. The NEWSWEEK dated December 8 has a wonderful thought John Patrick Shanley, he of the recent film DOUBT, is quoted as saying: “— she needs community, and I think that is one of the great deficits in modern life.” He goes on to say: “— these dioceses, these church schools, these centers, provided a gravity which kept people from flying off into outer space.” I love it! In other words, everyone needs Something that keeps them from feeling “unglued;” from falling between the cracks. Some thing which exudes strength, sureness, safety. Faith in the unknown, turning the unknown into certainty; these do that for people. But so does the much greater excitement engendered in what we, as a species, have been endowed the brain power to discover about the wonders and mysteries of the very foundations of life and this amazing universe! You cannot come away from a serious study of the biology of living things without immense awe and a deep appreciation of and love toward each and every kind; most especially all the other members of our very own species.

Virgin Birth More Believable Than Darwin's Theory, Say Americans

Well said! Musing upon the problem of scientifically-challenged America, I perceive millions upon millions refusing to watch a Science documentary, read a scientific article or book, take a Science course or listen to a Science lecture on CD or DVD. You can continue to deny, and deny, and deny that thing you refuse to know. But despite this attitude, Life marches on and so does Evolution. The matter has been verifiable and every bit of data coming forth since the time of Darwin’s grasp of the concept has made it proven fact and the base of all Biology today. If you want to hunker down in your bedroom in secrecy and discover the truth, your library is full of the latest books on the subject, and The Teaching Company can sell you CDs or DVDs right here on line that will give you the full lectures. There are other companies out there, as well. Be bold and refuse to be part of dumbed-down America!

Virgin Birth More Believable Than Darwin's Theory, Say Americans

Ah, but there IS definite proff of Evolution! Read the books! The rumor that there is not belongs in the Obama was not born a citizen of the United States category. It comes from those in deep denial.
