My Comments (1800 so far…)
Nancy Pelosi: 'I Stand By My Comment' That CIA 'Misled' Congress on Waterboarding
I have no idea what you are talking about. And apparently, neither do you.

That same report also states: “Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.”
You said:
“The Gallup Poll reported Friday (May 15, 2009) that 51 percent of Americans now call themselves “pro-life” rather than “pro-choice” (42%) on the issue of abortion. “
In fact those numbers are not on the issue of abortion. You neglected to mention the rest of the numbers….
“The new survey showed that Americans remained deeply divided on the legality of abortion — with 23 percent saying it should be illegal in all circumstances, 22 percent saying it should be legal under any circumstances, and 53 percent saying it should be legal only under certain circumstances.
CNN poll: Again you left out the fact that 60% favored same-sex civil unions.
The breakdown of those favoring gay marriage is also interesting: Among those 18 to 34 years old, 58 percent said same-sex marriages should be legal. That number drops to 42 percent among respondents 35 to 49 years old, and to 41 percent for those 50 to 64 years of age. The poll indicates that only 24 percent of Americans 65 and older support recognizing same-sex marriages as valid.
and
The latest Washington Post/ABC poll shows the highest support, finding for the first time that more people (49 percent) are in favor of gay marriage than are against it (46 percent). That’s a whopping 17 point jump in support in the poll from five years ago.
What new government efforts to regulate guns?
The poll data I quoted above disputes your data about government involvement. There are a good many more polls on the link I offered, that you might find interesting.
It is important to examine the details of any poll, in order to judge is efficacy. The Rasmussen poll asked “In order to reduce the price of gas, should drilling be allowed in offshore oil wells off the coasts of California, Florida, and other states?” Gas prices were sky high and people were fed a false premise in the question. Drilling would, as the Bush administration admitted, not lower gas prices at the pump.
“After being misinformed that drilling would lower the price of gas, it’s not surprising that voters would express support.
But what do you think the results would be if an accurate question was offered, such as: should drilling be allowed off the coasts of California, Florida and other states, even though it would NOT lower the price of gas in the next several years?”
Taxes ect:
A majority of respondents (57 percent) told CBS News in April that they would be “willing to pay higher taxes so that all Americans have health insurance they can ʹt lose, no matter what.”
Similar majorities responded that they would be willing to pay higher energy bills if the money went to cleaner air.
More people said that they think “an economic agenda focused on spending for improvements to the country’s infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and schools” would be more effective than “returning money to taxpayers through tax cuts” to stimulate the economy and create jobs (54% to 33%)
Gallup found that Americans have very different views of how income taxes affect people of different classes.
When asked about low ‐income people, Americans were evenly split, with 41% saying they pay their fair share and 39% saying they pay too much (only 16 percent felt they pay too little).
For the middle class, the figures were similar: 50% said the middle class pays its fair share, while 43% said it pays too much (only 5% said it pays too little).
But for the wealthy, the figures were starkly different: 23% said the wealthy pay their fair share, 13% said they pay too much, and fully 60% said they pay too little.
A March Pew poll found that 61% of the public supported Obama’s proposal to raise taxes on those making over $200,000 per year.
I’ll see your Feb 9th and raise you a Feb 11th, 2009: A new USA Today/Gallup poll reports: “Public support for an $800 billion economic stimulus package has increased to 59% in the poll conducted Tuesday night.
Not right of center.
Who people vote for is a reflection of where they stand. The issues you outline above were McCain’s platform. Americans have moved decisively to the left.

“It is one of the most fundamental ideological divides between the left and the right:
Conservatives purport to believe that government should be as small as possible and favor market‐oriented solutions to social problems;
Progressives, on the other hand, see government playing a more vital role in meeting basic social needs, including infrastructure economic security, education, and health care.
As the most recent National Election Study (NES) data demonstrate, clear majorities of the public recognize the importance of a well‐run and well‐funded government to their lives and to the security and prosperity of the country, and, indeed, want it to do more.”
NES 2008:
The main reason government has gotten bigger
37% -“The main reason government has gotten bigger over the years is because it has gotten involved in things that people should do for themselves;
OR
62% -government has become bigger because the problems we face have become bigger”
Less Government or More Government:
32% - “The less government the better;
OR
66% -there are more things government should be doing.”
Pew Research Center:
Government Begulation of Business:
38% - government regulation of business usually does more harm than good.”
OR 50% -“Government regulation of business is necessary to protect the public interest;
Gallup:
“Do you think it is the responsibility of the federal government to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage?”
41% - Is NOT the federal government’s responsibility
54% - Is the federal government’s responsibility

The facts dispute your opinion.
“A Pew Research Center poll in October 2008 showed that voters identified Obama as “liberal” and roughly as far to the left as John McCain was to the right. By overwhelming numbers, voters selected the liberal candidate over the conservative one. …conservative commentators, particularly those on Fox News, have portrayed Obama as so liberal that his activist agenda bordered on socialist or even Marxist. Yet according to Gallup polling, Obama’s approval ratings for this first 100 days in office were higher than those of any president since Ronald Reagan and higher than seven of the last eight presidents at the 100 ‐day mark. It doesn’t seem likely that an entrenched center ‐right nation would reward such a liberal president with historically high job ‐ approval ratings. However, a centrist or center ‐left nation would.”
“And all indications today are that America is becoming just that. Polling data regarding a wide range of issues, including the role of big business, health care reform, gay marriage, stimulus spending, international trade, and Social Security, indicate that Americans are increasingly receptive to and comfortable with a progressive agenda.”
“in most policy areas, it is progressive ideas that enjoy majority support. …on issue after issue, and in growing percentages over time, nominal independents or moderates increasingly mirror the opinions of nominal Democrats or liberals. The majority is center-left; it is the right that is isolated.”

U.S. SENATOR TOM COBURN (R-OK) to Sam Alito : “Can you comment just about Sam Alito, and what he cares about, and let us see a little bit of your heart and what’s important to you in life?”
Sam Alito: “…when I look at those cases, I have to say to myself, and I do say to myself, “You know, this could be your grandfather, this could be your grandmother. They were not citizens at one time, and they were people who came to this country.”
“And that goes down the line. When I get a case about discrimination, I have to think about people in my own family who suffered discrimination because of their ethnic background or because of religion or because of gender. And I do take that into account. “
But exchange the name Sotomayor with Alito and suddenly “It has no place in our courts.”

90% of the left are drug addicts?
And this is an admirable addition to the conversation? This is not using addiction as a political tool?
and you are thanked for this kindness, because the liberals are so rude?
wow, if the right does it, it’s admirable, thankful, practically poetry. If the left does it, they are so very horrid.
it’s pretty funny, ain’t it?
I mean, I’m pretty sure you’re laughing.

THE PRESIDENT: “I have followed this man’s career for some time, and he has excelled in everything that he has attempted. He is a delightful and warm, intelligent person, who has great empathy “
Bush nominating Judge Clarence Thomas. There was no Republican outrage about his life story or his “empathy”.
The bottom line is that she is immensely qualified for the Supreme Court.

I never heard anything so pathetic in my whole life. Total narcissism coupled with a lack of empathy has ever been the hallmark of the authoritarian set. But projection and this weak victim role, is just creepy.

What I see is that there is no difference between what you are saying in your posts and what you accuse others of saying. You enjoy the nasty comments that the fundies make, but rend your garments from the mountain tops and chastise, when it comes from “Liberals”. That is the definition of hypocrisy.
I am glad to hear that you are through with name calling and assumptions. I will gladly extend you the same respect.
