I just want to share this with you readers of this posting. It came at ten thirty on the 20th….. Today was history. If I ever wondered what attracted me to history, I think I found out today. For years I have read history in testbooks and watched history on films and often wondered what it would be like to have been there. I finally have that moment… I was here on January 20, 2009 when “We the People…” finally meant ” WE THE PEOPLE”. It took 222 years and a lot of history, much of it unpleasant. Today, January 20, 2009, the Constitution preservered and is now a brighter beacon for the world to see. Democracy works. It works even better when “We the People” means “We the People”. Regardless of your personal politics, the historical significance of this day,,,,this one day,,,,January 20, 2009 is huge! Can you imagine those who were there to hear MLKjr and then were there again today to witness what many thought they would never see,,,what would never occur? Can you really understand that this man’s father was not able to be served in a restaurant, but his son was able to stand today and take the most sacred oath? Today, January 20, 2009, “We the People,,,” finally means “We the People..” The hard work starts tomorrow, but today was history. January 20, 2009. My proudest day to be an American. This message is from my son. He is a high school teacher here in Iowa. Today is my lad’s birthday. I am lucky to be his mom. His students are lucky to have him as a teacher.

I am so happy for you. I am happy for all of us. But I am so happy and proud that this country did this for you.

Took nerve to answer that way, Ms. W…..I have seven children,,,,I can afford them,,,,all of them have been to college….some for LONG time,,and one of them went to college of hard knocks,,,,but she is fine now….All of them are hard working viable citizens of their communities…on boards and are volunteers and are terrific parents….of my nineteen grandchildren. I do not think I owe them a house…why would I do that for them,,,they need to earn their own way so they can have the satisfaction of doing so. They are really best friends to each other…and to their parents. And,,,the grandchildren are just the best kids in the world. They are the delight and gift and treasure of my old age. BAS

I had dozed off,,,,saw the skit,,,listened to the first comments…thought,,what a good sport,,,,then realized it was Fey….She looks more like Palin that Palin looks like Palin,,,,I LOVED it….am going today to work at Dem Hdqrts for my county….going to take copy along…..

You have said in such a succint way,,,something that I want to say,,,,but would have used too many words….. I just have to add,,,,she is still scary,,,,and and McCain together give a scary picture…. (Thanks for the quote from G. Keillor,,,)

Listen,,,,It just had to get better, didn’t it,,,,,I have been married for a ,,,well,,,a long time…..One Sunday morning,,,,while reading the newspapers in bed,,,sex happened….afterwards,,,,I told my husband,,,,I wanted to read the funny papers,,,,not be in them,,,,,We do have a really fine life,,,,and hope to enjoy each other’s company for another fifty years……

Whoopi: Thanks for the straight talk…..I am from Iowa….we did get and are getting help from FEMA….It is taking time,,,,and there are frustrations,,,,and delays,,,,but they are here…along with private organizations,,,churches,,,communities,,,,and neighbors… I hope we are not complaining too much… You are right about the white/black issue….I am working in my way to change it. But,,,bottom line,,,Sarah Palin may be talking for the common woman,,,but she is not talking for me…..

Palin says she speaks for the middle class; women;big families; anti-abortionists;church going parishioners;hard workers; politicallyl involved….. Well,,,,I am all of the above…..and she DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME. The woman is one scary, nasty, selfish person.

I did not like the speech,,,,delivery,,,wrinkling of nose,,,content… And,,,,the story Huckabee gave,,,about the Veterans…is an old story…. I think everything about the Republicans is an old story….Except they get meaner and nastier…..

She did not electrify me. I don’t need her to wrinkle her nose and use her Speech 101 voice to be so vicious and nasty about opponents. The belief I hold that she sacrificed her daughter’s privacy to attain her own ambitions is still valid,,,,but then I see the daughter and boy friend in front row… Today I am thankful to be a Democrat. I did love the little girl wetting down the baby’s hair…..

I think that Palin is one selfish self centered woman. She has a career in politics….she has a great future in her choice of career….. How could she accept this position that she knew would put this child in the center of a story that will be told world wide…. This girl,,,this child,,,,does not deserve this. I think Mrs. Palin is selfish.. BAS

I think to have a good friend is to be a good friend…guess it could be the same as good neighbors…..I live in Iowa,,,,in a small town,,,,everyone is your neighbor….when trouble comes,,,,everyone comes to support ….. perhaps we all know too much about each other….kind of hard to keep a secret….but,,,I have had a child seriously ill….I think you would have had to go through phone book to find someone that had not sent a card or good wishes to the child and to me….. And,,,,we all pray for each other…. I have relatives in Cedar Rapids,,,,site of the terrible flood,,,,the care and concern of neighbor for neighbor ,,,,throughout the state,,,,is heartwarming…..
