Mugsy's New life

Josie, I wish that I had more than just very basic information. Have you looked up the MGFA (myasthenia gravis foundation of America)? You might find some useful information there: http://www.myasthenia.org/pe_informationalmaterials.cfm Good Luck. Liz

Are women harder on each other than they are on men?

Yes, a lot of women are harder on each other than on the guys. Often it is because, for whatever reason, they have come to expect so little from men and will reward a man for whatever crumbs he might produce. Women are expected to deliver, to do it with flourish, without bragging and strutting around proudly and to quickly get the next project underway. I think that the worst of it boils down to a sliding scale blend of perceived power and Freudian projection. A lot of women will do whatever it takes to ingratiate themselves to or curry favor with the guys at another woman’s expense. Many women (and men) attribute negative feelings about themselves or some woman/women significant in the span of their own lives to the woman at hand. When the pressure is stepped up for any reason it is always easier, and ever-popular, to blame the bitch over rolling up your sleeves and paying your due or taking a long hard look in the mirror.

Audrey's Future With AJ

I am wondering how Peggy Rometo manages the many emails that she gets - and I am sure that she is inundated. Does she keep all of an ever-mounting number of emails received intending to try to eventually answer as many as possible regardless of age? Does she periodically delete the emails that she hasn’t yet selected in order to avoid collecting an impossible and monstrous number of emails? If so, how often? The reason I ask is that I would hate to add to her stacks of emails and duplicate an already sent email to Peggy Rometo after a few weeks if there is still a chance that she might answer the first. By the way, I do read Peggy’s answers to the posted questions and find much wisdom and advice that can also be applied to my personal situation. Thank you all.

Who Stands to Gain the Most in Indiana and North Carolina: Clinton, Obama or the Republicans?

Who stands to gain the most in Indiana and North Carolina? All of the above and the entirety of the US population. We’ll all be one step closer to the end of GW Bush & Co’s machinations. I doubt that John McCain can win in November.

wOw's Views on the News: Is it a Mistake to Hold the Olympics in Beijing?

Mary - my thoughts exactly. we are in debt to the tune of $350+ billion to China. GW Bush will dance to whatever tune China plays. His scheming has us hamstrung in a snare with lethal potential.

You are a ...

All of the above. When all of my pins are firing I can be quite an incredible combo of thinker and doer. I struggle to tranquilize the naysayer and procrastinator in me - life is just too damned short.

Stumbling upon this site quite by chance has turned out to be nothing less than serendipitous for me. I look forward to my visits here because each time some sort of treat awaits me. What a sweet surprise to be in such fine company in having one of my comments deemed notable on this site. Thank you so much to the powers that be and to other members who generously made positive comments - you have made my day!

Marlo Thomas: The Media Steals Our Chances of a Fair Election

LOL Suzanne O I thought you might be stuck in Stepford, Ct with Paula Prentiss!

Marlo Thomas: The Media Steals Our Chances of a Fair Election

Yes, you are right. John Edwards was eclipsed by the media coverage on the amazingly eloquent black man vs. the cackling scheming shrew. The only coverage John Edwards received was in relation to Elizabeth Edwards’ breast cancer. A modern day side-show.

Marlo Thomas: The Media Steals Our Chances of a Fair Election

News. News organizations. Newsworthiness. Relevance. Objectivity. What happened? Where did it all fall apart? We’ve evolved from substance and fact to sensationalism and opinion. Even weather reporting has been diminished into mostly all hook so that the viewer will hang on for as long as possible. American minds like cattle on a feedlot are being fed on a steady diet of nutrient poor biased and sensationalized news calories meant to encourage us to passively stick around, fatten up and become addicted by swallowing whole the agenda or junk laced “news” being shoved down our throats. The most profitable way to get us fattened up and go gently into the slaughterhouse.

Joan Juliet Buck: 'I Was Born With Eleven Toes'

Ahhhhh yes … foot massage. If only my husband understood and was willing to improve. He’d be a much happier man.

Joan Juliet Buck: 'I Was Born With Eleven Toes'

My sister was granted a darling set of delicate, supremely sweet size 6’s. While I shot out with duckling 8.5’s ever-threatening to bridge the gap to a 9 fringed with 10 gangly toes, each at odds with its closest neighbor. I’ll never forgive the nurse in labor and delivery for advising that I had especially large feet for such a short woman =/

What do you do more often than you'd like to admit?

Karen, lists! Yes, lists and a motley assortment of notes on odd bits to research later or to be used in that piece I’ll someday write. The mental notes … why in the world do I have so much unearned confidence in my ability to store a fleeting thought? Maybe even worse yet those notes that I actually jot down … my nightstand, pockets and purse abound with scraps of hinting at fruitless flashes of “genius”. The poll screams for the option of “other”.

wOw's Views on the News: Is Rev. Wright Leading to the Demise of the Obama Campaign?

[sheesh … we need an edit function] he broke publicly ties with him he publicly broke ties with him :/

wOw's Views on the News: Is Rev. Wright Leading to the Demise of the Obama Campaign?

Burke Omalley, the thing is that most white people are not shocked, surprised or unaware of black liberation theology. It is not as if this is a secret something new coming down the pike and now because of Barack Obama white America is suddenly confronted with a mind-blowing revelation. White folks know about black liberation theology, white folks acknowledge black liberation theology and accept that black liberation theology is embraced by many. However, concern that an intelligent, powerful, rising star in the US Senate, who has an excellent shot at becoming our next US President, may have adopted some of its most extreme ideology is very concerning to many Americans of all ethnicities - not just white folks. Barack Obama raised these concerns by signaling that he had a long running closely guarded tight bond with Reverend Wright that he had no intention to ever alter even in view of his incendiary ideology and Obama’s rising political power. Barack Obama “disowned” Reverend Wright, not because of white folks ignorance or misdeeds, he broke publicly ties with him because Reverend Wright went on an all out self-serving, vomitrocious media offensive that is proving to be very harmful to Barack Obama.
