Regardless of how you feel about Palin, it’s pretty pathetic when members of her own gender publish sexist videos such as this on their websites. You may find humor in it; I find it demeaning to women. Look ahead four years from now, when another woman runs for executive office and she’s dismissed as a Party nominee without a moment’s consideration because those who call the shots believe that few women will vote for her…. after all, look how the nation demeaned Palin in 2008, they’ll say. WOWOWOW, you’ve sunk to a new low.

Icky! VERY icky! Duh - in this day and age, how do they KNOW the daughter’s pure? What’s also very creepy to me on so many levels is the Mexican quinceañera [celebration for 15 year old girls - their “coming of age”]. They wear a gown very similar to a wedding dress, have a full court of people resembling a wedding party. There’s even a male escort for her. To me it is like announcing she’s ready for child-bearing. Distasteful. Not to mention the dreamy ideas the fifteen year-olds must get from all this. One wonders if the quinceañera party fosters a false sense of being an adult and contributes to early sexual activity. Whatever happened to keeping sexual experience [or lack of] private and celebrating teenage birthdays with a pool party?

Karl Rove doesn’t write Palin’s speeches. Matthew Scully does. Who is masquerading as Rush Limbaugh on this website? [Not good to misrepresent yourself.]

Yes, I see that the photos show an improvement in attire, but I don’t think that was the intent [to show improvement]. I think it was a cheap shot. I want someone in office with the skills to get things done and suffer no fools. Palin could wear a burlap sack and it wouldn’t bother me. It says a lot to me that some of you resort to denigrating her attire. That’s so small-minded.

I can’t say I’m a fan of his, but on this, Rev. Jessie Jackson got it right when he said, “Senator Obama ain’t run nothin’ but his mouth.” What’s that old saying? “He who laughs last, laughs best.”

Not since Viktor Frankl has someone so inspired me. Professor Pausch was a genius in many ways, but mostly about life. His passing is great a loss. How very fortunate for us that he left us with all the secrets, simple as they are, to a wonderful life.

English is the language of the US. The sooner everyone learns to speak it, and speak it well, the better off we will be. My grandparents, who came to this country in the very early 1900’s, knew it was imperative to learn the language. It wasn’t easy, but they learned. I think they would be disgusted to know that those who settled in the US after them still insist on speaking their language of origin and don’t even know what the American holidays are and their reason for being. You see, my grandparents staunchly believed that America provided opportunities for which her citizens should be eternally grateful. Speaking the unified English language is one way of demonstrating patriotism.

If you think you’re exhausted now, wait to see how the next four years unfold. I’m betting that those who voted for the President who takes office in 2009 will wish they never had.

I agree, Bonnie Oliver, victims and their families should not be tormented. With today’s improved forensic technologies there’s a much better chance of gleaning evidence to convict. Hate to say it, but crime today is way out of hand and it needs to be seriously reduced. If we keep leaning towards prisoner’s rights, then in no time half the population will be incarcerated. Crime is lowest in countries that cut off the fingers in the marketplace. Quick justice has an impact on society.

The only way she will be chosen as Obama’s running mate is if the Democratic party is seriously worried about losing to McCain. And if Obama wins with Clinton on the ticket, my gut is that he’ll have little use for her after he’s in office. That’s a serious waste of her experience. Personally, I think the position of VP to Obama is beneath Clinton. I have a hunch Obama’s going to make a mess out of things if he’s in office. If that happens he won’t be impeached [because no one will want to be called racist], so there would be no chance for Clinton to step up to the plate. A pity we can’t trash this stupid party system and let the best person win. No superdelegates……no mudslinging. A government for the people……what a novel thought!

I saw that show on CBS, too, Pamela. Dreadful. Millions of dollars in one small town charged against food stamps and welfare because the single women [plural wives] are considered unmarried mothers. Yep, your tax dollars and mine. Seriously, I live in CA and the rate of births is skyrocketing. If you think what you read so far is draconian, Frank, wait until you hear MY idea: At birth implant a vial of hormones that will prevent conception. Then, at age 25, the person can apply to have one child….provided they have already taken parenting classes and have $100K in savings for the kid’s education. Seriously, children should be a joy and deserve the very best in life. To have them without giving thought to their well-being is simply selfish. [OK, now bring on the hate mail.]
