Does money buy happiness? How much does it cost?

You will hear many versions of the same response here.  So I will add my 2 cents.  I had a conversation with a respected conversationalist on this topic last week.  He said and I will paraphrase, "The rich and affluent may sit on the mountain, but when it comes to love and happiness, they must come down to the valley like the rest of us."

Sen. Edward Kennedy Dies at Age of 77

My heartfelt condolences to the Kennedy family for both of their recent losses.  Two very special members of their family and the American family are gone but will never be forgotten…

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Most definitely—I’m impressed. Next to you and the other daredevil people on this thread, I’m a wuss.

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

I never got the best out of street drugs.  I guess it’s my unusual chemistry.  When it came to marijuana, it was a hit or miss.  Most times I got a bad headache, so I avoided it.  I recall one time getting an exceptional lovely high from a yellow looking product.  Never had access to anything else, if I did I’d probably decline fearing a brain aneurysm.  On the night that I mentioned above, I opted to try "expensive" wine—it gave me a headache almost instantly. So by the time we were on the way home I was ready for that evening to end.  I realized the driver was impaired, so I was the fool for getting in the car.

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

As a young person of 17 and 18, I put myself in some situations that could have gone real bad.  Angels were watching me…  I recall one night coming home in the front seat with a drunk/high driver—an incredibly dangerous thing to do.  We had just dropped off the couple we were out with.  At one point on the road he began to cross the line into on-coming traffic.  I wasn’t impaired and took the wheel, bringing us back into our lane while yelling at him to pull over.  I ordered him to let me drive and when he reminded me that I didn’t have a drivers license, I made the next five minutes so miserable with my raging that he sobered up enough to get me home safely.  I never went out with him again.

Because of that situation I tell young people and especially my 20 year old daughter to NEVER get in the car with an impaired driver.  I don’t care what time it is, even the middle of the night, if you are somewhere and your only option is to come home with a drunk driver, call your parents and tell them you’re coming home in a cab or ask them to pick you up.  If you get in the car with the impaired driver, you are risking your life.

What is the one question you would ask Whoopi Goldberg if you had the opportunity to sit down with her?

I would ask Whoopi what makes her happy.  What persons, places or things give her joy and contentment.

What passage or passages from a book, poem, short story or other literary work moved you so much that you've never forgotten it?

The following passage always moves me when I read it.  I love the condensation of an act or thought that sums up an entire thing—in this case the New Testament.  There are many translations for John 1:14, but the King James Version has the most poetic introduction of Jesus:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

Do you drink coffee?

I love my coffee too, although only at work.  I never make coffee at home.  My favorite Teavana blend is my choice hot beverage at home. The blend called MateVana is a rich robust tea for coffee lovers.

Dear Margo: When Three Is Not a Crowd

ROFLMAO=Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off!

Lin and Cool One, it was fun sharing this laugh with ya’ll.  Have a great week:-)

Dear Margo: When Three Is Not a Crowd

ROFLMAO!!  Yeah that happened while one of the guys was reading a book on quantum physics .  That explains the "Big Bang Theory"!

Okay let’s stop now before someone accuses us of being insensitive and politically incorrect.

Dear Margo: When Three Is Not a Crowd

LOL! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking like Lin and Cool One. Either those three ain’t really nerds or they are nerds and the poly-relationships are not as salacious as we think they are.  One of us has the wrong impression of reality.

Is getting your hair done a chore or a treat?

Thank you for your interest and encouragement Gianna!  You are definitely not being ignorant in showing sisterly concern.  I don’t take for granted the good energy that comes my way when I’m still struggling to accept myself.  My prognosis is uncertain.  I hope to have a twa (teeny weeny afro) one day, but my internist and dermatologist haven’t given me false hope.  However, they both encouraged me to join a support group which I did.

Thank you for reaching out to me sister. Enjoy your beautiful new "do" and your weekend too!
