Is your best friend a man or a woman?

There is no greater love than that of a friend.  A friend is one who reaches out beyond their personal life concerns and touches another.  After all, each of us here now are on this life journey together.  My deepest spiritual connections are with both sexes and I am richer for the experience of their imprint on my heart.

Whatever Happened to Discretion?

I feel you Sister!  You know I’m looking at that last name Cercone.  And yes I do feel you on that.  My deal breakers are, " I love my mistress". Or "You should go to the doctor, I have an STD". Or "I think my mistress is pregnant".  I don’t snub those women who stay and cover their pain, they have their reasons.  I know that my intense emotions could not handle the strain of competing with another woman.  I can’t let someone pull me to those depths, it’s dangerous.

Whatever Happened to Discretion?

LOL!! Whew, I just love the graphic responses!!

The Death of an Icon

I chose to remember the best in people when they die.  We all hope to leave a positive legacy that will be remembered with smiles and laughter.

I will remember Ed’s gregarious laugh, Farah’s pretty hair and flawless smile, Natasha’s twinkle in her eye and Michael’s music and performance genius.

The good things are the only ones that really count.

Mark Sanford's Mistress, Maria Belen Chapur, Says Little About Affair; Wife Called a Hero

"The Washington Post says Mrs. Sanford, 46, "seems to have drawn a new path for the aggrieved spouse of a philandering politician, an episode that has become something of a ritual in American politics."

…with a backhoe! That’s the spirit!

The Forever Marriage?

Marriage is an arrangement.  It is as pragmatic as a business license; but steeped in religious traditions and constructs.  But it is still an arrangement by two people to live together and raise a family.  Because of the subtext of what a marriage means to the individuals, success is achieved or not.  Other human relationships have the freedom to end with little damage.  In a marriage, the arrangement dictates that the parties work out the problems and save the arrangement.  I think that is where many have failed to understand the gravity of living in "holy matrimony" or a committed relationship.  We Americans are highly individualistic, yet for marriage we are to embrace the concept of the collective/the family.  Being family-oriented means to render all future decisions on what is best for the family.  Many can’t make the shift for whatever reason.  Others crave to be a part of a family unit and believe traditional marriage is the only way to achieve it.

But in this past century we have seen marriage expand to single parents, homosexual parents and communal parenting arrangements.  I believe and studies support that children thrive in a loving and stable home.  I believe in traditional marriage, but I believe strongly in supporting stable families. The goal now and in the future should be to help adults maintain homes that protect children from abuse or neglect. Developing community programs to mentor youth from high risk families and reforming the foster care system and adoption programs. The success of those goals will produce healthy adults who will likely maintain stable families in the next generation.

Creating Awareness: Celiac Disease – Follow Your Gut Instinct!

Thank you Ashley!  I have an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata.  Having had other allergies all of my life, this information that you’ve graciously given is timely for me.  I know that I should be tested for CD and I plan to do so this summer. Your story will help others understand the insidious nature of chronic illnesses like those that are autoimmune.  I’m learning self-care through diet, exercise and stress management.  I wish all the best for your future Ashley; continue to stay strong.

Sleeping Beauty? How You Can – and Why You Should – Sleep Like a French Woman, by Mireille Guiliano

LOL! I read through the entirety of the posts waiting for someone to say it and you did Lisa!  My daughter’s best friend was in Paris for a month long trip last year.  She commented that she hoped she didn’t get lung cancer from all of the second-hand smoke.  She never in her young life saw so many women smoking—it left a real impression on her.  Not to be stereotypical, many women everywhere still smoke and drink too much coffee in order to function as the multi-tasking goddesses of their homes and careers.  If a woman is still abusing her body at 40+, it’s dangerous.  Stress is enough to take you out.  I do appreciate the health advice given in this article—but to attribute it to French women exclusively is laughable.

What thoughts do you have about Ruth Madoff as we near her husband's sentencing?

No thoughts here.  I’m neither rich enough nor myopic enough to care.

Who is your favorite TV dad?

I like him too Belinda. I love how he didn’t care that his children were aware that he and mom were enjoying "quality-time".  Nothing was going to stop his groove:-D
