What Is Joan Ganz Cooney's Big Family Shocker?

Hi, Couldn’t pass up this opportunity to mention that I married into a big Italian family over 40 years ago. My mother-in-law had six boys and two girls. At that time there was one married daughter with 4 children and a son with 3 children.I thought that was a big family. As of today we have 108 people! We have been getting almost everyone together for a reunion for the past 40 years. Of course,we have to celebrate at a restaurant. Do we outnumber the Osmond family?

What creates a sense of awe and mystery in your life and why?

Just would like to recommend a new play which is being presented by The NY International Fringe Festival. It is entitled “Prayer” written by Jonathan Kravetz. It will challenge your ideas about the nature of morality through one man’s search for justice and redemption. I found it to be a very powerful and riveting play. The actors’ performances were phenomenal. Tickets can be purchased online at Fringenyc. The theatre is located at 41 Park Row just opposite City Hall.

In response to Diana T. about fears. Thank you so much for your wise thoughts. I too, have had many moments of anxiety in my past. I have tried to cope with this problem in my own way. Sometimes prayer helps other time supportive friends are there for me. I realize that as a child I was overprotected. I witnessed much suffering of relatives who battled cancer. My older brother had a mental condition and I feared I might have been headed down that path. However, I was fortuntate to have a college education, a successful career and a wonderful husband and children. To this day I struggle to overcome my fears. I try to think positive thoughts, read many books and lead a happy life. I feel that I am truly blessed!

Mary Wells: wOw Keeps Me From Reading

Mary, I can certainly relate to your last message. Since wOw I have been spending lots of time at my computer. I guess you could say I’m addicted. I thoroughly enjoy the comments from your highly intelligent contributors. However, since I am retired, I still squeeze in time for books.I lead a book group and have to find the time to complete one book a month. I also read other books in between.I appreciate the book suggestions…keep them coming!

Frank, Your amazing tribute to your wife was quite moving. You are truly a gifted writer. I have been reading some of your wonderful entries since the birth of WOW. Are you a professional writer? If not, you surely should be. Looking forward to reading more of your poetic and inspiring messages. Thank you!

Sports Bras and Breasts: Not Always Best Friends

JUST TODAY I WENT TO A LOCAL STORE, WHICH ACTUALLY FITS YOU FOR A BRA, SINCE THE BRA I WAS WEARING SEEMED TO BE TOO TIGHT ACROSS THE BACK AND WAS CAUSING SOME DISCOMFORT. THE SALESGIRL CHECKED OUT THE FIT AND RECOMMENDED A DIFFERENT STYLE BRA WHICH FELT BETTER. ONLY RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN WEARING A BRA WITH UNDERWIRES. IT SEEMS THAT THESE ARE MORE SUPPORTIVE.OF COURSE FOR SOME REASON I HAVE GONE FROM A “B” CUP TO A “C” OR “D” CUP. I AM A SIZE 10(WHICH I JUST LEARNED IS THE SIZE MOST MEN PREFER WOMEN TO BE).SO GIRLS IF YOU ARE EXERCISING IT IS VERY WISE TO WEAR THE PROPER BRA.

A PLACE WE GO TO IS ABOUT AN HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES EAST OF OUR HOME. WE USE LESS THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS ROUNDTRIP SO IT IS NOT THAT MUCH OF A BURDEN. WE ARE NEAR THE BEACH AND ENJOY THE TIME WE SPEND THERE. IT IS EVERY BIT AS BEAUTIFUL AS ANY PLACE ON THE PLANET.

Lie About Your Age, by Dr. Judith Sills

ABOUT TELLING YOUR AGE: WHEN SOMEONE INQUIRES ABOUT YOUR AGE THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER I’VE COME UP WITH: “AGE IS JUST A NUMBER AND MINE IS UNLISTED!” IT ALWAYS GETS A LAUGH AND SERVES THE PURPOSE WITHOUT BEING RUDE

The Silver Tsunami: Is Gray the New Power Hair Color for Women?

HI, I ENJOYED VIEWING THE LOVELY GRAY-HAIRED WOMEN.HOWEVER,I GRADUALLY WENT FROM BRUNETTE TO BLONDE AND LOVE THE LOOK. I FEEL YOUNGERSO IT WORKS FOR ME.

What television show do you miss the most?

There are so many shows that were my favorites:”I Remember Mama”, “The Twilight Zone”. “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”,”The Jackie Gleason Show” just to name a few. It’s a shame that our children did not have these shows to enjoy. I’m sure if they saw them today they would not be able to appreciate how great they were. Of course, TVLand airs some of the great shows but I doubt that the young people find the shows as appealing as we did. My daughter, who is 40 has been hooked on “The Golden Girls”…I also watch it occasionally and find that it was ahead of its time and extremely entertaining.
