Joan Cooney: Senators Clinton and Obama Have Made Each Other Unelectable

Cooney doesn’t take into consideration, firstly, the incredibly short attention span and memory of the American voting public, and secondly, all the McCain negatives sure to surface in the general election (age, health, status quo status, pro-Bush policies, etc.)

How do you feel about Senator Clinton's win in Pennsylvania?

I’ve been an Obama supporter from the get-go, but have never been terribly concerned about the possibility of a Clinton nomination, either. However, now I am becoming very concerned that the friction between the two will undermine either of their chances to defeat McCain in the GE. As someone had previously stated, the ‘Pubs will, no doubt, dredge up all the Obama negatives but she did not take into consideration the fact that there will be beaucoups negatives dredged up about McCain as well—perhaps more than Clinton and Obama have combined!!!! Let’s hope…

Change the World

I don’t hope to be able to change the world—even a little. However, I would like to change wowowow a tiny bit. Would it be possible to limit the frequency and length of some posts? Some seem to really LOVE to see their words in “print” and tend to dominate discourse (see the Iraq discussion).

How do you feel about Iraq right now? What is your biggest fear, and what is your biggest hope?

I feel that Iraq is still a hopeless mess and that our soldiers should be systematically extricated from the area over a reasonable amount of time. I was very disappointed to see the two Bush apologists (albeit veterans of the Iraq milieu) on the Charlie Rose show last night. Bits and pieces of “successes” do not a successful invasion and occupation make!! Please, oh please, don’t let the American voters be stupid enough to put John McCain in office to extend the aggressive, insane Bush/Cheney policies and cause more unnecessary American and Iraqi deaths—not to mention the waste of trillions of dollars that could be spent for myriad other needs.

What Happens to Us After We Die?

I believe that, after we expire, we “go” wherever we were before birth. If you have memories of that particular period, then I’d say you have something to look forward to after you leave your present life. For me, try as I might, I remember little or nothing about the time before I took my first breath.

'Ann Richards Is With Us in Spirit; She Can Never Die'

I, too, miss Ann Richards—probably more than I’ve missed any other politician. If only she were still available to run with Barack Obama—or even just to offer her insight and take on current events. “Poor George…” is forever embedded in the memory.
