An Economy So Bad, Even Porn Isn't Selling, by Liz Peek

At the age of 62 I am just now becoming comfortable with my body - in fact, starting to like myself. It upsets me that when I finally have confidence to star in a ‘well done’ porn movie that the damn things aren’t selling any more! Guess I will have to invent a new widget to get my first million.

Liz - I always admire your ability to seem to, not only fit in, but never to be over whelmed by all this razzle-dazzle. Thanks for taking me along.

Is this another problem that we have to wonder if we helped to create?

wOw's Comments of the Week 8/2 - 8/8

Had a very crappy week and it was a real ego-boost to see my comments. It’s a sad time in your life when complete strangers can make you feel good about yourself. But things are getting better and this was a nice addition. Thanx.

If you had one million dollars to donate to charity, what cause would you support?

I found it sad that only 7% would donate to the arts (it didn’t get my vote either) because art is so essential to our souls. But then I thought about it and realized that man has always, and will always, make art out of something. We have always had the ones that drew on the cave walls, the story tellers, the bead weavers. The only problem we have now is we can’t seem to inspire that need in our children because we are to busy trying to buy the thing that someone else has painted, carved, or made entertaining.

Maize - I think the same. I get a little nervous donating money to charities (when I could, can’t right now) because I always felt so much of it was wasted. I think that if you help a few families get on their feet they in turn will be willing and able to help a few families and thus goes the ripple affect.

Tag - I saw this site mentioned here on wowowow and it has been very good for my soul. Right now I can’t do volunteer work or donate financially to anything. Every time I log on I have made a promise not to log off until I have donated at least 1,000 grains of rice (which takes just a few minutes) no matter how tired I am. It helps me feel like I am still able to do something to contribute so I am not sure who benefits more - me or the people who receive the rice. It is a wonderful site.

Comedy Helps 'Tootsie' Star Battle Multiple Sclerosis

I have loved her in movies and she was a scream on David Letterman each time she was on. She has heart and that will get her through whatever life throws at her.

If you were writing your obituary, what would you title it?

When ever I have the wonderful event of having my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the same house I look around and tell them all, “If not for me, you would not be!” My grandson has heard this so many times that he swears he is putting it on my tombstone. I won’t have a tombstone - so I just want them to remember that. I feel a need to share this because it is a classic for wow women. My father (the ultimate chauvinist) was an alcoholic that my mother loved very much but would not tolerate. They married and divorced each othe five times. When my father got drunk he would make us promise to spread his ashes on mom’s grave so he could say “Joe ——— on top at last!” I did this late one night, drunk as a skunk with a cocktail waitress that kept the motor running because I told her when dad’s ashes hit mom’s grave the earth was going to move. Guess mom was right - you can find humor in anything.

Scarlett Johansson and Penélope Cruz ... How Does Woody Allen Do It?

thought I wrote though, though I wrote thought glad I am not the only one that makes typos - am getting really good at reading what should have been written :)

Scarlett Johansson and Penélope Cruz ... How Does Woody Allen Do It?

I don’t know the man personally, so can’t comment on his personal life. He is a great artist thought, and basically that is all I care about.

What in your life has surprised you the most?

I was surprised to learn that I really love my father. Hated him for so many years, even made a drunken joke when I spread his ashes. Now I am just sorry that I didn’t get to know him. I often think of him now and tell him how sorry I am that life was so hard on him.

Picture Perfect (Almost)

I have always taken horrible pictures and made a point of not being in any of the family shots. After I turned fifty I realized that the pictures weren’t about me - there were about family. (Damn - I so loved feeling everything was about me!) Since then I have been in any picture anyone wants to take and don’t really care how I look. Just realize that I am with people I love and that is worth any picture. My children have commented about wishing they had pictures of me when I was a young mother - kind of sorry I deprived them of that. In my vanity I lost treasures for my children.

The Gloves

Wonderfully done. “bedcovers would tremble but no one would see” I think describes us all at some point. I was raised in fear, married fear, set out on my own in fear, and lived through it all. Do I still fear things? Oh, yes - but now I can meet it head on and laugh when it is over. It doesn’t freeze me anymore and I am so thankful for that.

What adage do you live your life by?

countrywoman - I may have to use this as my new mantra. The minute I read it I remembered the years I held my sails firm and regretted it. Adjusting has always been the answer to mankind - wonder why it takes us so long to realize. Anyway - this is definately going up on my wall. Thanx
