I voted Obama simply because I want a democrat to appoint the new supreme court justices. We have already lost enough freedoms, I do NOT want more conservatives there to tell me what is good and what is bad, right or wrong. Wasn’t this country founded on the premise of separation of church and state?????? The conservatives (Palin) are trying to change this country into a church state.

I am almost blind reading all these posts, changing the subject again to the mid comments, I voted early and one reason stood out above all the others, Supreme Court picks, We can kiss our freedoms goodbye if McCain wins, and thats really sad since there are already few left.

In my ramblings I forgot to say how sick I am of the republicans using fear of being attacked. I t matters NOT who is president, If the terrorists decides to do something to us, they will try.

I am a 73 year old woman living in a small town in Indiana, have lived in 6 communities and all are basically the same, joe 6 packs, the sophisticated, Some church going some not, mostly all willing to help anyone who needs the help. and the selfish, I figure that is how all of America is, in small towns and large towns. Tribal America LIVE LONG!!! Sarah has made one silly statement after another, now she wants to be in charge of the Senate, pleazzze. She has one really good ability, dividing people . If the republicans are so divided then just split and each group start their own party, we could use another party. Disagreeing with Liz if fine, but can’t we do it without being nasty. She does still have the right to her opinion in this country, at least for now. My husband and I are one of those couples who have lived beyond their means, we are not destitute yet, : ) and if we do ever reach that point we will live with it. but I would not change a thing we have done, we have great memories of all of our decisions. No person making it to the position of being president is EVER ready the first day, it IS a job where you learn on the job. The important thing is to surround themselves with good people who love this country too and help you make decisions. I assume McCain and Obama both love this country, I have voted already and Obama who is intelligent too, got my vote mostly because after he got his degrees immediately went into the mode of helping americans, black and white!

Oh thanks Frannie, I really did know that, but didn’t understand that because of only wanting a partial re-count that could all happen. Yes the democratic party was stupid not to go with the whole state. but since they didn’t we will really never know what the outcome could have been, the supreme court does scare me with the power they have.

I am not a constitutional expert by any stretch of the imagination, can someone answer my question, what in the constitution gave the supreme court the right to take the presidency away from Gore? Or for that matter any person running for the presidency. It frightens me that it could happen again, no matter what the popular vote is.

I find it sad that so many have forgotten how and why this country was founded, Jefferson, Adams, are just two off hand I can think of who fought loudly and viciously with founders of differing views,. Today this country has lost the idea of why this country was founded. We are so totally divided on our views that we have forgotten that EVERYONE has the right to dissent without the need to have that person put to the cross for their beliefs, and the saddest part is so much of the division is between christians??? and those who do not believe as they do. I thought only God had the right to decide who is evil and who is good, All of us need to worry about our own souls, not the souls of everyone else. Remember either hearing or reading Mr. Churchill’s “the only thing we need to fear is fear itself”? Since 9/11 we have lost totally the ability to heed that warning. When I pray to God, my prayer is always THY WILL BE DONE, because that’s all there is. Hating people with differing views and the hate will be the downfall of us all. Mr. Brokaw thank you for your imput on many arguments over this election, too bad there aren’t more of you.

The Presidency has limited terms, 2 terms, I would like for it to change to 1 term of 6 years. Most election years they all talk term limits for the house and senate. Then when they are in, they ALL change their minds.

Hey Tedyz, I am not educated either but I do think for myself, I watch Sarah’s body language and verbal slips, I also think she might be a dangerous person. From some of her verbal slips I feel she might try if elected to somehow remove John as president so she could move in, Yes she seems very controlling and speaks without thinking, or if she has been thinking and calling O’ Bama a terrorist then she is a terrorist, trying to incite screwballs.

I agree with Anita, Congress is out of touch with reality, they have been in office too long. However I do think we have the most creative people in this U.S. over any other country in the world, they are just not in office. To the person who wants Pelose replaced, how about replacing all the reps and senators, start all over, but I know that will never happen because the greed in this country is a reflection of its people.

Who cares who came up with the idea, something needed to be done and it sounds like a good idea.

I get really sad when I hear the media belittle Hillary because of such stupid unimportant statements about her makeup, age, etc. and mostly people who do not want Bill in the office again, what do you think he will be? Just because of Jack Mcafferty, Chris Matthews rude unthinking remarks? Try thinking for yourselves for once. Last nite on WGN radio Milt Rosenberg a visiting guest said we should listen to the debates, THEN TURN THE TV OFF, instead of listening to these guys tell you what was said in the debate, MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS.
