Go, Obama!

It makes me happy that two children are now in a safe and happy environment. I represented them for over for years as a CASA. This was my first project after retirement. Now I feel that I have earned reading the paper in bed and ’ traipsing in the snow ‘in Montana in January.

Hi All, For the first time ever I feel that I need to be active politically, because it will be disastrous for this country if the team McCain/Palin wins…… Our friends in Europe are shaking their heads…….. GO OBAMA………

I would give half of the money to early childhood education, and the other half for college scholarships. Nothing in this world comes for free, but it bothers me a lot that young people are forced to be deep in debt when they are starting out in life……

The best thing to do for myself was to enter a different environment for a week: Just returned from a wilderness trip in the Washington Sawtooth Mountains. Had to hike in for 7 hours over a steep pass, lived in my tent, did camp chores together with 11 camper friends, listened to the coyotes and contemplated my life. Conclusion: Life is good as long as I am fit. It was wonderful to be away from phones and all worldly influences for a few days.

Saturday Night Fever - I think the entire album is fabulous. On the classical side: The Goldberg Variations and “Fuer Elise”……

The New Yorker showed extremely poor taste. There is nothing satirical or funny about this cover. I am not amused or entertained……..

There should be a choice of foreign languages, not only Spanish. I think a foreign language should be mandatory. Exposure to other languages and exploration of other cultures should not be exclusively available to students whose parents can afford private schools and trips abroad….

My ex husband died of cancer. My daughter wanted to be his caregiver, so he came to our house to die. On the first anniversary of his death, I could have sworn that he was in my room when I woke up. He kissed me on the cheek, and then he left. He appeared to be at peace, and so was I.

I was in Rome three years ago and could not believe the trash and weeds around the Coliseum. … What are they doing with all the tourist monies?

Lying is far too stressful……….. Don’t consider this to be good advice…. The other day somebody guessed my age to be 10 years less than it is. I guess it pays to go to the gym, and I’m not skinny, just healthy……

Here are a few comments from a happy retiree: Never spend more than you make, ever….. I take myself to the gym 4 times a week for a strenuous workout, it’s hard work, but, knock on wood, I am very healthy. Volunteer and take some focus away from yourself. I am in awe of some Special Olympians with whom a interact on the golf course. One plays with only one arm. I always go home counting my blessings. Stay positive. The best things in life are for free…….like talking to my daughter…… Have breakfast in bed, spoil yourself. Don’t expect someone else to do it for you…….
