Every woman must have her own savings account, no matter how happily married she is. Even in the sixties, I had my own money that nobody else could touch, not a lot, but enough to keep me independent. I bargained for the house and got it, because I knew if the house was sold I would not receive child support anyway. I was right. For most of us ‘small folks’ our house is the best savings bank. It has not been easy to maintain it, but it is worth the effort. Also, I have never had more than 1 credit card and still managed to have a very high credit rating. Overall, our system is not for the weak ones. Also, I work out almost daily, because we all know that illness can bring us to the brink of disaster in no time.

Putting on hiking boots changed my life for the better: You get a great work out hiking, you meet interesting people on the trail. You only see smiling faces in the great outdoors…….

When I took my 10 year old daughter to camp in 1981 she asked me to quit smoking. I quit the next day and climbed the walls for a week. I also did not drink coffee for six months because of the association with cigarettes. I loved to smoke. I have not had a puff since 1981, because I don’t dare…. It’s amazing how smoking will drain you of energy. I found that out immediately. I regret that I exposed my daughter to cigarette smoke.

The best jobs I ever had were after retirement. I was a CASA volunteer for 4 years. Now I am a golf coach for Special Olympics and love every minute of it. Also makes you very humble……

I would only call cosmetic surgery ‘good’ if a person had an accident and needs reconstruction. Otherwise, accept what nature handed out to you and make the best of it……….

Ms Dee - Seems like we read similar bios on Beethoven and Schuman. I spent a week in Bonn two summers ago and stayed at the Hotel Consul which is just a few blocks away from the Beethoven Museum and also within walking distance to the Rhine River and the old Bonn Cemetery. Just get yourself on a plane to Frankfurt and step into the train inside the airport building taking you straight to Bonn. Have fun.

My daughter played - or I should say “plinkert” “The Candy Man” when she learned the piano. Great memories. Sweet memories….
