What scent do you associate with a pleasurable memory? An unpleasant one?

Chanel No. 5 reminds me of my mother, specifically being in my pajamas, with my brothers and the babysitter, saying good night to our parents before they went out for the evening.

Cigarette smoke reminds me of how stupid I was to let my addiction to nicotine continue for over thirty years.

I think there is something weird about how Ann Coulter dresses so skimpily - she always shows a lot of skin. I don’t care about that so much, but combined with her strident putting down of everything in sight and her scorched earth approach, it is strange. I hope her angry point of view cycles out of style with our new President. She can’t possibly think it is helpful to anyone on Earth to keep ranting and spewing with such hate. I hope she calms down, I find her to be very nerve jangling and mean spirited.

When I was a little girl growing up in the South, I thought the “white” and “colored” signs on water fountains meant that you got regular water versus pink or blue water. Of course, the truth was far more hideous. My husband and I cried last night until we ran out of Kleenex. I realized that I had not let myself think about the reality of the Obamas actually occupying the White House until now. Nor had I realized that I was suppressing this thought, until it finally became real. What a night!
