Lee, I am so sorry I posted that because it was Paterson’s camp that took that to the press. I have always respected Paterson and thought him a gentleman, but all he had to do was accept her withdrawal when she called him. Instead he asked her to give it 24 more hours than send his attack dogs after her. Even though I withdrew my initial support for her, I can still feel for her. She is a classy lady and didn’t deserve this treatment.

Well, for Paterson she is his meal ticket for a successful run for governor. I think she is bright, articulate and will work well with both sides of the aisle. In her acceptance speech today, she gave a mini version of her Paterson campaign speech. I did not see Cuomo, but will read the account later. I thought I saw D’Amato. I wish her well and think she will work hard for NYS. And thanks for remembering that I did write about her and thought she would be Paterson’s choice—but a choice he could have made weeks ago!!!

She was the best choice for Paterson in terms of his election bid. But she is a smart, articulate woman and I wish her well and hopes she does NYS proud!!

Hey Frank!! If you remember my past posts, I had said Gillibrand would be the best choice for Paterson’s bid to win the governorship because she is from “upstate”. Gillibrand I feel will work hard in this capacity. She is an up and coming star and smart too. And if you also remember, I no longer felt Caroline was ready for this job. That said, I agree with you 100% about the sleazy road Paterson took. It is unfortunate that Paterson could not have accepted Caroline’s withdrawal and the 2 make a joint announcement when she first called him. No, I just have come to the conclusion that you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to anything about NYers. Have you seen the current story in the NY Times on Paterson? Have you watched the local news calling his whole selection process a circus? Did Paterson have to lie to the public and say the Caroline withdrawal was “a rumor” when she indeed let his office know what she was planning to do Paterson did tell reporters that by waiting to announce the senate selection it was keeping them from asking about the economy. Now it turns out he may have lied about the Nanny Tax too. For someone who was going to announce on Saturday, he finally had to break the news tonight and will select Gillibrand. And already Dems are upset with the selection of an NRA supporter. As for your question, the seat may not have been technically opened, but every one knew Hillary would get the appointment. Even Bloomberg commented that he had no idea why the Governor could not make a selection. The seat not being open was only an excuse….and boy did it every backfire on him. This whole Caroline story is now gaining more ground because of Paterson and not because of Caroline. And I will end my response here.

Paterson has announced Gillibrand as his replacement. She is a Conservative Dem, so this is going to be an interesting choice.
