Should Sen. Clinton pack it in?

The race isn’t over. Hillary should stay in. I’ve been fortunate to be privy to recent polling among the…so called…average, none-university learned…elderly men and women from private senior citizen clubs; Hillary is their choice. Their fear: Obama. If he is the democratic nominee they will vote for McCain. These are people, who the majority are in their 80’s and 90’s, war veterans, nurses, mechanics, stay-at-home-mom’s from the forties and fifties — though they are against the US being in this war, they will vote for McCain over Obama if Hillary is out. These are facts from the white working class of our past, the pollsters and the political pundits seem to dismiss counting more on the young votes to carry it through. A grave mistake.

Privacy: Is It Yours for the Taking?

When pursuing anything…be it professional or personal… one must always take in consideration the consequences. One can live ones life by setting up boundaries and still have complete freedom…even in this world of instant everything and access that at times is crossing the line…one must prevail. Privacy goes hand in hand with friendships as well as in business…and maturity and experience…which can range on different levels of loyalty, honesty, morals…basically a respect for who you are. That is the beauty…and therefore one learns who to trust with ones privacy. I know professional people who have two or more computers…one for the internet only and believe it or not…they do not do their banking or give out info that can haunt them later…another computer for writing, or doing their work…they make the effort to try and control their privacy from being not only invaded but stolen. Learning to do things differently from the rest and still accomplish things without sacrificing your privacy…priceless.

Joan and Liz: The Health of Individual Americans Is Completely Subject to the Pharmaceutical and Insurance Companies

I haven’t read everyone’s comments here but this is a subject close to my heart. Recently on pbs FRONTLINE (4-15-08) had a wonderful show reported by Correspondent T.R. Reid entitled: Sick Around the World whereby he traveled to a few countries and checked out their health care systems in comparison to ours here in the US. It is worth viewing on-line or getting a transcript of the show: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundtheworld/ Mr. Reid’s report shows exactly what we need to do in the USA as did the Swiss: revamp our entire Insurance Companies, Hospitals and Drug Companies…some task. I believe that a book will be out as a follow-up to the show because one hour of air time could not cover everything. It is a shame in this country, we have become so greedy, claiming to be compassionate about people’s health and well being…Yet, allowing the ” bottom-line ” to override decency of what is right and good for an individual’s health and well being. I, too, believe in preventive medicine. Prescription drugs merely puts a bandage on the symptoms…it does not go to the source of an illness. I, incorporate Western, homepathetic along with Eastern medicine when necessary. I do strongly believe in listening to my body’s signals. I truly believe there to be a link between all the combined medication a person may be forced to take for an illness and depression and other mentall health issues…especially with our young ones. Add also the unbalanced and un-nutritious diets and foods — void of any nutrients except for weight loss, sexual appetite, or satiating our obsession with looking perfect…and we wonder what is wrong with us? High fructose corn syrup, microwaving ( destroys nutrients), diet products (containing asparatame, linked to brain seizures) ingredients no one can pronounce ( more than 6 or 7 is a no-no if not nautral) for we live in a society where we want things fast, fast, fast…I want it now…and fix me later or I’ll worry about it later…has become, for many, a daily mantra…and sadly, I’ll worry about getting sick later…maybe never thoughts…get pushed aside. Well later…is sooner than we know for most people. Please know I too have had my share of illnesses and deaths and in dealing with medical and health insurance companies. Our system can be fixed. What Hillary and Obama may say they will do, if elected president, won’t even cut it. Revamping the entire system…now that is a challenge for any presidential candidate to take on.

Olbermann and Matthews Take It on the Chin from Hillary!

Olbermann and Matthews, one must remember, must maintain high ratings though they are becoming more to be poor magazine entertainers, sportscasters, than serious journalists at times. It has become tedious to hear grown men clinging to bullying their ideals of what Hillary must and should do…How dare Hillary show them up. Like, Joseph Bua, here so angrily stated…of how fed up he is with Hillary’s damn negative game that he finds so abhorrent to the majority of the Democratic Party (since he seems to know the Demo. Party so well) but fails to list the negatives, as if they are so, so obvious. According to (D) Rep. Rahm Emanuel, last night on The Charlie Rose Show, Hillary has hardly been negative, running ads that are in accordance with winning the nomination compared to past presidential hopeful ads. And Rep. Emanuel is someone worth listening to in experience. Hillary and Obama, and their camps, are exhausted campaigning for 15 straight months now…tempers start flying after 24/7 scrutiny…and sleep deprivation…so there are bound to be slip-ups; some Aide doing their own thing under pressure without clearance, thinking they are helping the cause. Anyone who has been on such campaigns, know of what I speak. Others, well…claim to know it, never having gone through the experience but always seem to be pointing out the negatives of the sound bites. I bet they are the same people who see the glass as always half empty. Damn it…I wish they finally state what the heck candidates are suppose to be doing for they all sound like 4-year-olds whinning, sucking their thumbs, throwing temper tantrums…while screaming those holy political decrees of ” I know what is good for our country ” nonsense…and God help anyone that disagrees with them. Lighten up. This political season is invigorating cause it stirs people to talk and get involved. In regards to O’Reilly, he is not worth the time of day…He is the shock-jock of tabloid television disguised as a newsman….May Edward R. Morrow rest in his grave. Has anyone noticed, how the men that write on this site, tend to be a bit angry…? Some even go so far as to actually…(I can only sense this by the way they type)…dare to talk down to us…my, my…instead of conversing and discussing.

What do men not know about women?

That when we trust our instincts, we can read their minds and that scares the hell out of them. A dear French girlfriend once told me that the difference between French and American women were that the French women let the men think they are in control. I agree with Liz, that most men see being sensitive to a women as weak in the eyes of their peers…while to us, they finally are aware and understand us. And, yes, that in itself becomes a strong aphrodisiac. Those men that truly know themselves, know this and aren’t afraid of being vulnerable. Little do men realize that at times they mirror image our fears. Thank goodness, that with age and experience, I can finally acknowledge, recognize and communicate to a man…without anger, without seeming in competition, without nonsense … who I am, without wasting precious time anymore. And if a man doesn’t get it, or understand me…bye, bye. Life is simply too short. I work hard and I play hard with no apologies anymore.

What Anthony Minghella Gave to the World

Yes, he did understand the magic of filmmaking. He was not ashamed to be sensitive and express his feelings through the art of his medium, film. I am very familiar with his work and the person. Any man who can express a woman’s heart and a man’s on film without out the use of gimmicks using the purest form of storytelling, is indeed a master. I sense that in some way, in some form, he will continue his passion through someone else here, while also entertaining them above. The greatest service one can do for someone who we believe has left this earth so soon — is be grateful for having known them; grateful for having been touched in some way, by their life. I know, Anthony, will continue to inspire me, in mine.

What do you consider to be the new seven deadly sins?

I am in concurrence with all. Mendacity, haven’t heard that term used in awhile. May I add: stupidity…again along with lack of manners a total lack of respect for others…lack of trust…destructive anger…dishonesty…impatience…and no sense of humor.

What do you sleep in?

Nothing. The sheer sensuality of fine linens against my skin is a pleasure I refuse to deny myself spring, summer, fall or winter.

I Read the News Today, Oh Boy: Pot Shots at a Possible First Lady!

Yes, just another mean Republican SOB out for the kill. It seems many Republicans have learned well from their mentor Karl Rove from his classes of ” Take No Prisoners” ” How to Plant Negative Seeds in the Minds of People” ” How to Turn Upside Down Campaign Strategies of Your Enemies” The price of admission to this private school is someday serving time in prison, selling out your country for your own private interests, forcing Democracy down foreign countries necks, convincing your people that the promises you gave to oil tycoons comes above your sworn oath to uphold the Constitution of the US, and laugh at the suckers in private who buy every word you utter without even thinking of impeachment…but Clinton was…on morals charges. And we wonder why all of Europe laughs at us? The Republicans should be really proud of themselves, those who sold their soul and promise the moon — All, all, for the proper price of making sure Bush became president of the USA. I am beginning to think that the present Bush has cursed the Republicans unwittingly. Oh, golly gee…How I wish for a miracle. Oh, forgive me, fellow ladies, but I don’t think I inhaled just now or does it really matter when it comes to discussing the nonsense that the staunch Conservative Republicans dish out?

What advice would you give to a 21-year-old woman?

Most 21-year-olds will do what they want to do whether you like it or not, as we did when we where their age. For the old saying, ” If I knew then what I know now ” applies here. It takes a rare 21 year-old spirit to even stop, think, and reflect on any of the advice given here. All of us mean well and are trying our hardest to pass on words of wisdom to those who have yet to live their lives. I say go, live your life, find your passion, find like minded individuals in every area of your life, follow your heart (even though you may get hurt - for being vulnerable is all part of life); and do trust your instincts. Along with happiness, love, commitment to excellence in whatever career you may choose there also carries with it fear, anger, guilt, resentment — all real emotions to be felt in some phase, on some level in ones life — Learning to face and deal with each so you can keep moving forward in life takes time. So, do be gentle on yourself and of those around you, who claim and do know more through experience — for in the end they all mean well; they also know you must go through your own experiences no matter how painful they maybe. And to any 21-year-old: Know that there is nothing you do that any woman here has not already thought of, done, fantasized over or still plans to do — for we all have in some way been there. But what do I know…I am only a woman.
