If you don’t mind paying 1/7 of your insurance premiums in all of America to one single man…the CEO of just one of the current insurers, then keep the system the way it is. Watch Bill Moyer’s shows with Wendell Potter.  I highly recommend their enlightening views. 

Many of these 240 POW’s are not guilty of anything…yet.  That is why they cannot be put in jail somewhere in the US.  Period.  

They are suspects gathered up in war zones.  One for example was a 15 yr old boy who happened to come running from a house in which EVERYONE was killed by US soldiers.  One soldier was killed by a grenade from around the area where the boy was. Therefore he ended up in Gitmo for many many years.  These are the brand of "terrorists" being held. This child has essentially grown up in Gitmo.  He is a Canadian citizen who was in Afghanistan with his family who was entirely killed by soldiers. I fail to see the separation of events in this tragedy. Sorrow seems to begat more sorrow. And being held without a reason or a trial can fester wounds of sorrow and anger that will indeed foster future terrorism. I do not pretend to know the answers. I can only help define the atrocity war brings from all perspectives, not just the American one.  We had NO BUSINESS being there in the first place and I don’t know how we can back out of this unscathed.  Really. 

The law says that at the end of a war all POW’s must be released. They deserve a trial or to be released.  Many of them will get out based on time served anyway because of the length of this battle, and the fact that no official "end" to this war has been declared.  Once again lawyers rule the world.  Sigh.   

 Maybe John has his own money now, but SHE had true wealth before he even left the starting gate.  

 I agree with you Victoria, on the way Elizabeth handled this whole thing.  It was revenge-based in a way.  But more than that I think her message is a clear lesson in women-to-women relationships.  There are, and always have been, too many women ready to jump into bed with someone else’s man. If women had respect for others’ relationships and shunned married or near-married men, the world would be a better place. Its a chic thing! We need to learn to stick together better!

I have mixed feelings about the book.  But of course I have only seen the Oprah and LKL episodes with her on it.  I have the Charlie Rose one taped. John Edwards was clearly still at home with her, and agreed to make a reluctant appearance at the end with Oprah.  If she is the main $$ in that family she wields alot of power over him.  I am really curious to know if the proceeds of the book are going to some cause or foundation.  That, to me, would be a reason to write such a personal tell-all.  

And yes, if I suspected my fallen husband was going to run off the minute I took my last breath with someone he "allegedly" fathered a child with I would certainly write the book before anyone else could to make sure my perspective was available on a shelf forever so the world could always look back and refer to it as my very own gospel. Time can twist the truth so I think its great she created a record of her beliefs and ideas about life.  We are all just terribly focused on the minutest section of this book about his indiscretion.  I liken it to gathering in the town square to watch the beheadings in old times.  Human nature sadly hasn’t changed much.

We already have a problem if everyone in the whole world right now thinks that Pakistan’s nukes are currently NOT secured and they have two weeks to get in there and take control.  Is that what was implied?  Then how smart is that to announce it around the world?  See my point?
