Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

sherrie, forgive me the imperfect statistics because I cannot find where I read this. But I read that in the seventies, the variance between a typical employee and the top chief of a corporation with his bonuses was about 8 times greater in value. NOW the difference between the top dog is more like 250 TIMES the amount of a typical normal employee at a firm!!! Its just outrageous! Sorry I cannot find the link.

I agree completely. The media circus and bloggers extraordinaire tend to be a bit too pre-judgmental. A result of expected debauchery from our leaders I suspect. Makes me wonder if the fabulous Caroline decided it was too much trouble on a personal level. Also makes the rather lame excuse for the bowing out of the Republican Commerce chief candidate was not a ruse to cover some “error in judgment on his part. A keen lawyer would tell him to deny anything but a personal realization that his political views were different to prevent him from looking like another one of the tax-rat pack. Duh! Interesting theory no?

Wow Mommy. That’s outrageous that one must pay taxes on flights booked by points. Did I read that correctly?

Go outside and play Alex. You’re getting on the ladies’ nerves while they’re trying to get together here, discuss things and solve what men have screwed up for the past 1000 years. You are laughable and I for one do not welcome you or your harebrained opinions. Leave me alone now. Stop following me around buzzing your vitriol and bothering me like the wasp that you are. The worst part is that you think you are correct. ROBO-public-cons have got us into this mess. You do not deserve a voice right now if you voted for any war-mongering Bushes. Again. Leave me alone.

And Democrats can’t own a business? At least they take care of their employees. Alex, you are really really f*cked up. Get a life pal. You’ve got so much hate and vitriol in you that you could probably seek professional help. Your comments are so scary that you are showing signs of possibly being a unibomber in the making. I can hardly wait til you screw up and finally get deleted. When I see how disrespectful you are to many very decent posters on this site I just have to shake my head and hope that you are only playing devil’s advocate, or an Ann Coulter media-like character because I pray daily that you cannot believe the stuff you write. It sickens me and I usually just skim over your posts except when you try to take aim at me. You make me wanna puke, dude. YOU get real.

L'Chaim! Bar Refaeli, the First Jewish Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Cover Model! by Sheila Weller

I se your point Marina. But it says “Jewish” not Israeli. I realize Israel is a multi-faceted mosaic state much like Canada. But if that’s the case, why did the author select the word Jewish in the headline-which refers to a faith-based group of people rather than a state. So I took that information verbatim and interpreted it in my own way. All I am saying IMHO is that the conservative base of Jews living in Israel or elsewhere will not be happy about the exposure of this girl on the cover if she is indeed Jewish. The term fragile blossom is your words not mine. By protect, I refer to the covenant of covering up / modesty / hair covered except for husband to see, etc. Traditional Hasidic views. One of my friends just converted and married into an extremely old-fashioned family with all the ancient traditions in place. She wears a huge woolen toque, turtlenecks and long sleeves and pants when she goes over to the father’s house for meals and on the Sabbath. I only skimmed the article but read through all the posts. So thanks for noticing. Now that I read the article it had more substance to it than I thought by ony reading through the posts!

May I suggest that some folks are missing the point? I think the point was that Israel now has Sports Illustrated. I think this notion speaks to the evolution of a people, a culture, in an area that would be normally alot more conservative and protective of its women. Coovered hair / modesty etc. are NOT part of Sprots Illustrated. Get it? This is not just a topic about another thin tall gal who dates Leo. Lots of models who are Jewish have been cover girls or swimsuit models since time began. I hope they are not going to demand that every cover girl has to be Jewish or Israel-born. Love to see a gorgeous Persian girl on the cover too. Now that would be news!

RE:” If this counrty is filled with so many Obama supporters why does O’Reilly always beat out Olberman? Fox news beats out most all cable networks.” Alex, the answer is because all those scruffy, unemployed, neo con redneck voters are sitting around the house ordering up another beer from Daisy Mae, pregnant, barefoot and bent over the sink in the kitchen. They got the jump on the TV viewing in American, no? Makes sense that O’Reilly has higher viewership. Consider the base.

Ah. Actually now that you mention it, I think I am the Poster “Bored.” After reading the usual suspects hurl personal insults at each other to try to prove how stupid they are for not liking Palin or Hasselback. And over 1000 times they post this BS?? Sigh. Got better things to do.

Sarah Palin: The Movie?

Well even though “shite” is a better word for how I feel about the sleet, I meant o use the word “white” :)

Sarah Palin: The Movie?

Ah…..nice. Well my beach had icy shite sleet balls all over it today. It went away. then more fell around dog walking time. And more tonight. My new daffodils will survive though. Its not sticking!

How are you planning to mark the Inauguration?

We cant wait to see what happens up here too! We are taking quite a hit to our economy…mostly non-confidence issues that are bringing everything to a slow crawl up here. Very disconcerting. Can’t wait to see if he can do what he wants.

Sarah Palin: The Movie?

Why thank ya kindly Miss Georgia! I do try to find the humor in things!

Sarah Palin: The Movie?

Fox will create a special channel and just run that one movie 24-7. LOL.
