What scent do you associate with a pleasurable memory? An unpleasant one?

I always loved the damask roses type smell, then my daughter when she was 8 years old wrote a Mother’s Day poem about me always smelling like roses so now every time I smell a rose fragrance I think of my lovely daughter.

The Happy Birthday Liz Smith! Reader Forum

Have a great birthday… it is your day, the only day that is special so enjoy and remember to pay it forward to someone who don’t have hundreds of friends or a web site to help you celebrate!

Today is Lauren Bacall's birthday. What would you like to say to her?

you are beautiful, and have such class. Happy Birthday… I too have thought you a wonderful example of womanhood!

What does being a woman mean to you? When was the first time you knew it?

I was born 2nd of 7 children: 3 girls, & 4 boys. One of my early memories is of becoming a nurse; in 1951 a nurse was a woman. It was what I wanted to do with my life more than anything else. I was 2 years old, but being a female, a girl, and a woman is me it is what and who I am… in light of the pressure I feel I have begun to reevaluate my thinking. In today’s world women are to live up to their potential. Women have “come along way…” but if you can’t be who you feel you want to be are you letting all female kind down, shouldn’t I strive to do and be more. Well I have felt like a woman for 55 years and am very happy NOT to be a man.

HerTube: Breaking News With Dan Rather

…just a very silly story, people have to much time on their hands.

If you were a rock star, who would you be?

I saw Joan Baez perform for the Harrisburg 7, she showed passion but she also was a women and back in the very early 70’s that was quite a combo… I was studying to be one of the two careers women could be…nurse or school teacher. To be on the road like Joan Baez… I never forgot that night so I pick Joan Baez

Lily Tomlin: My Tony Awards Home Video

thanks for a sight that for the most of us is unseen…. many times you wish you could be a “fly on the wall” well thanks for the view!

Whoopi Goldberg and wOw Wish You a Happy Mother's Day!

My Mother died last year and I miss her more than I ever, ever imaged (dad is mortician so I have been around death and am also an ICU nurse) but losing Mom well boy-o-boy. So if you have a Mom give her an extra long hug and if you don’t, remember the days when you did.

Do you insist your medications be brand-name?

Generic … makes me so mad. It is like saying there are WMD in Iraq.(because the goverment told us so) We are playing with people’s health. I have a son with Tourette Syndrome, I have had chronic pain for over 20 years and generic is not the same. Recently my son (now 29) was put on generic Zoloft after 6 months trying the generic he developed terrible indigestion then Akathisia (feeling like you are crawling out of your skin) so his dose had to be changed very drastically (lucky he has a doc that know that and watched him carefully) because the dose was so low a SERIOUS depressive state was just a hairs breathe away! After going back on the NAME brand Zoloft all the side effects went away. We were lucky my son and his Doctor work together and fixed the problem; it could have been a tragic error! So please listen to your children and also generic I feel have more side effects.

Growing Up, I Was Bored 'Quite Often' ... Today, Nobody Is Bored

I have to agree with you. I see a lot of kids around my neighborhood there are all types. I had no expectations with my children accept that they be happy, be a contented person that cares about those around them. I just had fun with my kids. I am one of 7 children and Mom did not have a lot of time to spend with me, so I spent a great deal of time with my own children. I made play things available… we always had books. My daughter’s favorite game was building with paper cups to make paper cup castles. My daughter is now a Lawyer working for the State to help children born into at risk homes and my son who went through the paper garbage, to find the “best” pieces when he was 7, is working on getting into Grad school to become an Art Professor. Both kids did their share of video playing and TV watching but having an environment that made learning fun… my father told me he read the encyclopedia as a young adult, then my younger brother did the same thing and finally my son followed in their footsteps. My daughter told me after talking to fellow Lawyers that, many of them as children would want to do math problems for fun or practice writing words before they could read. May be we hear more about the video playing kids because people love to complain. My kids and their friends found things to keep themselves fulfilled. I will add one thing, when I was young Mom would say can’t you just go read a book and keep yourself busy… I found out as an adult that I have ADHD and I couldn’t concentrate. I now an on Ritalin and have learned news techniques to deal with my ADHD… I know that is a dirty word but now I have the ability to start and finish a task with much less stress life is more fulfilling!

Have you ever slept with a man who was using Viagra?

My husband had a heart attack at 43 and a stroke at 54 so he couldn’t take Viagra but I did. I thought that his decreased ability was my fault so I took Viagra to help me get more in the mood, a very convoluted thinking but I was thinking like a women… it has to be my fault.

A Princeton-trained physicist told ABC News this week that Global Warming is 'all bunk.' Do you believe in Global Warming?

I am replying to Sheila Nevins, talking about Polar Bears, they evolved from Brown Grizzly Bears during an Ice Age period… to become Polar Bears. Also I was told by many, many doctors that nothing was wrong with my son for 10 years…. guess what they were wrong he has Tourette Syndrome so things are more complex. Taking care of our Planet is what we should do but can we change what is coming our way. I don’t think so…. just make adjustments to keep on living.

If Senators Clinton, Obama and McCain were cars -- what would they be?

I think Clinton is a Volvo van, Obama is an Audi, McCain is a Hummer. I’m thinking in candidate mode now so I’ll start with McCain- a Hummer because I think he sees himself as being more than he is, so he compensates with large over powering presents. Obama sees himself as a self assured confident man, he has it going on and he doesn’t have to flaunt it. Clinton is able to juggle many things at once and do it well. The van is the most logical car for her to have… her car may be the only car that is red… the other cars are black… because she knows that looks can be important (one more ball she juggles) and the van carries many people because it takes a village!

Which four women would you like to see on Mt. Rushmore?
