Candice Bergen: 'Central Park Is the Heart of the City'

I love Central Park as well, and still remember attending many a concert on the Sheep Meadow. I also love the Public Gardens in my current hometown Boston, with its swan boats, swans, Make Way for Ducklings scupltures, and wonderful landscaping.

Sleeping Beauty? How You Can – and Why You Should – Sleep Like a French Woman, by Mireille Guiliano

nsakdsaAldsafd

Recently I read that its best to go to sleep before midnight, but for me that doesn’t work very well. I find that my body clock runs from Midnight to 8AM. If I go to sleep earlier I usually wake up within an hour or two and then have trouble going back to sleep. If I go to sleep somewhere between midnight and 1AM, I have a good chance of getting at least 5 or 6 hours of solid sleep before waking. If I can go back to sleep again great, if not at least I’ve gotten a solid 5 or 6 hours.

Judith Martin: News Flash From the Late 16th Century

There’s a big Venician art exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston covering the works of Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese. There’s an interesting look at Tintoretto’s Nativity and what was discovered with new xray technology on the website.

Given our current economic/career environment, what advice would you give to a 2009 graduate?

"Get an education for a career that will survive hard times because the older you get, the more difficult it can be to stay afloat."

Hmm, and what might that be? At one time it was computer programming, that is until 2001 when offshoring took hold. At one time it was financial services - no explanation required. Management conultants still seem to be doing well, but as always if you haven’t gone to an ivy league school getting hired can be difficult.

So what career is it that you think will survive hard times?

Itty Bitty Kitty Ditties: A Quirky Celebration of Cats

In 2001 my cat Orie was diagnosed with diabetes. Because I had a hard time finding the right person to administer insulin shots and didn’t want to impose on neighbors, I stopped traveling and decided that since I was home I would help others who had the same problem. That was the start of a new business which has introduced me to dozens of adorable, loving kitties. You can see pictures of some of my furry friends in these places:

'Grey's Anatomy' Season Finale: George O'Malley, Izzie Steven: Dead or Alive? (Spoilers)

I’m not so sure that George will die. If they just wanted to write him out they could’ve just let him go off to the army and been done with it. So I’ll be the nay sayer here and say that I think George survives.

Marlo Thomas's Authentic Italian Menu

Yum. Reminds me of growing up in Brooklyn.

Virtual Executive 'Intern' PROJECT 1

I would like to create a facebook page for my business that is similar to Wowowow’s, but don’t see how to do this. Is this a personal page with a business name or a business page? From what I’ve read, business pages have very limited functionality, your page looks like it has more.

I created a personal account and then a business page, but then everything I did like streaming my blog showed on my personal page instead of the business page. I find facebook to be the least intuitive of the social networking sites I’ve used.

Actually it’s Dick Ebersol that Susan St James is married to. Dick is the producer of Saturday Night Live and has been since its inception.

Have you switched to drugstore cosmetics because of these economic times?

Paula puts out a good newsletter and isn’t pushy about having you purchase her products.

Have you switched to drugstore cosmetics because of these economic times?

I started using supermarket/drugstore cosmetics years ago as a matter of convenience. I’ve never liked the brushes used by department store mascaras and have long used Maybelline’s Sky High Curves. Lip liners and eyebrow pencils that I’ve bought in drug stores have performed well.

I’ve still got many tubes of lipstick and gloss from years of buying the Clinique freebies even though I haven’t bought one in about a decade. I’ve supplemented these with purchases from other stores I’ve passed along the way, along with those given to me by my sister and mother. Stores like Bath & Body Works and L’Occitane also have products worth looking at.

Billy Norwich: Reselling Clothes for Cash on Manhattan's Posh East Side

The point is the clothes are charged to the husband’s credit card while the cash from the consignment sale goes to the wife. The husband is paying through the nose while his wife is making a profit.

The iPod Doesn't Tempt Joan Ganz Cooney

The only place a would use an iPod would be at the gym, and my Sony Portable CD player does just fine for that. If I commuted daily by train then I might be tempted.

What networking site(s) do you use regularly?

Let’s see I use twitter to feed my blog postings, get story ideas and occasionally to let people know where I’ll be going the next day:

I’ve been on LinkedIn for a long time and have gotten more active in the past year.

I looked at Facebook last week and was a bit baffled by it. I hit Digg, Reedit, StumbleUpon and Delicious a couple of times a week to promote my writing. It’s exhausting but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do …
